    Unhappy Ducati down

just a quick one as i am too sore to type for long, put her down on friday, braking and a rotor broke, rotated me over the front, bike is mess from what I remember, I am just home 2 dozen stitches, broken ribs, shouder blade, internal bleeding (minor)...............on a stack of pain relief, spent friday night floating away on a cloud of morphine, Alpinstar jacket & Shark helmet did the job very well.

Won't be riding for a while

    Ciao

    Richard

Now Richard, what did we talk about? No more of that fun stuff eh? Jeebus fella, hope the bike is recoverable (note how I asked about the bike first okay? )

As for you, if you wanted some time off from work, I'm sure the powers to be at Botany would have relented!

Now for the serious stuff, ow ow and more ow ... I hope everything heals up and you are back on bikes after a wee convalescing I'll come around and poke bits and say "does that hurt?"

I've heard of it. Not a catastrophic failure though, and never on a Ducati. Disc gets a stress crack for some reason (impact?), and it grows then disintegrates without warning.

Sorry to hear it Richard.. Thats horrible for your bike to just bite you like that. Real bolt-out-of-the-blue stuff.

Sorry to hear, I hope you heal soon!

Your bike is an older model and might be equipped with iron rotors.

Here's a pretty good write down about what to think about, if that's the case:

Ouch, sucks about the damage to you and the bike, but I am sure both will heal.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

Dont know you but sorry to hear you got binned... at least your alive and on the mend. And assuming the experience hasnt put you off riding (would you ever trust a rotor again?) the next silver lining for you is that it will be time for a new Duke...
