    Yet another fatality

Heard from my mum (works at the local paper) that some rider got himself killed doing high speeds along a lovely straight today at about 11am. It would have been a nice ride for him, if it wasn't for the Learner cage driver with the massive Pajero 4WD pulling out of a school driveway.

He was put throught the driver window or something, instantly dead. All happened outside my old school too, exam time as well and the students can't get in till the cops get it all cleared. Road's blocked off both ways.

Yet another idiot making the cops pay just that little bit more attention to us riders

    In summary:
Rider enjoying high speeds + Learner driver with massive Pajero 4WD = Got life insurance?

    Bloody idiots

Not sure about speed .... if the location is where I think it is then visibility is clear for about 200m from the driveway of the college. He probably was going rather fast (160km/h or so)

He should have had no trouble seeing the cycle, I'd say it was fault on both parts from the info I have been given.

    Angry

We can't say that 4x4 Pajaros reversing out of drives are anymore a threat than a Lada 100ls can we unless we hate 4X4 drivers? and buy into the PC crap going around.
but then again Pajero is spanish for Dick!
the Japs pick words out of dickshonaries all the time

Yeah it was outside Pompallier College.

Poor kid though, he'll have that on his consience for the rest of his life... after all he basically killed the guy and had to have him land on his lap dead.

One more rider for the road = more cop focus on us innocent ones

I also heard he was only going around the 100-120km/h (in a 70km/h zone)

That kind of speed is a bit stupid if it was around school start or finish times. But the main fault is still with the 4wd driver.
BTW Pajero is Spanish slang for wanker. (Truth in advertising!)

-past a school, thats just fuking stupid!
I dont care if you guys don't agree, but IMO he would've died sooner or later, turns out it was today!

I hear you all saying its up to the bike riders to avoid the idiots, but now you think it's the car drivers fault that the guy got killed.
It might have been the car drivers fault that there was an accident, but it wasn't his fault that it was fatal.
    Luv it!

Interesting....a road with clear visibility for 200m.......ever thought that the speed limit is set at 70 because there's a school with an entrance onto the road? I realise this is all guessing and hypothetical, but perhaps riders should be aware of driveways and openings and make a hazard/risk assesment and ride accordingly....not go it's a flat clear road yeeharrrrr.

I almost got killed (almost is the important bit for me) when a tractor pulled out into my path as I was overtaking. Had I observed the opening, I wouldn't have been in a position to be hit. The driver didin't look before pulling out...so technically it's his fault....but I as the rider could have done more to keep myself safe.

ps KK think I'll have to make a special trip tonight to see the momentous event

Well I honestly think it's both their faults. He would have died one day doing that either way. Just as some of are doing when we push our luck. But that's the risk we take.

Also the father of the boy who was involved had killed someone also in a cage (not his fault though). Poor family just isn't having any luck with their 4WD's huh

Another rumor I heard (until I read it in the paper and get real facts), apparently it was a Restricted driver and he was on his own in the 4WD. When they collided, the Paj tiped right over.

Pompallier isnt really your typical city school. Its kind of out of town on the outskirts out past Maunu on the road to Dargaville and is set way off the road, probably 100-200m down a rightofway.

still not the place i'd wanna speed though.
