    Blah FXR150 to Kawa ZX9R!

    Hey all,

    I just sold the trusty 2001 FXR150, and yes.... brought a 96 Kawa ZX9R

I can hear you saying.... WHAT, a jump from a 150 to a 900! And yes... I did.

Its being shipped down from Auckland tomorrow (Tuesday), so should arrive to me on Wednesday. Not that I can even ride it legally yet! I sit my full on the 2nd of Feb in Welly, which lets me get it on the 25th of Feb, cos Im doing one of those CBTA or whatever they are called courses. Should be really good.
So for now, I get to sit on her, rev her engine, play with her alarm, read the book, rev it a bit more, polish her, and maybe drive down the road

If anyone has any info about the 1996 ZX9R I would really appriciate to hear. Whether it good or bad.

Both me and my Fiance are stoked with the purchase, and cant wait to get out on the road with it, for a nice gental ride.... with 139HP or whatever it is under us!

There are pics of it from the owner on my website. www.taktik.co.nz/bike/

    Tell me what you think
Oh - have decals to put on it aswell, he got some made. Bike is in extremely good condition, as yes it has been repainted, but by choice, not from sliding down the road.

Sorry to hear of your temporary insanity. 24 hours in a straight jacket & quiet room will probably do the trick. :sly: Welcome to the world of big(ger) bikes.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

So what are you going to sit your full bike license on??????
Since you have sold the FXR150.......
    Are you borrowing another bike....?
Wouldn't it have been easier to do it on the bike that you really know well...

I wouldn't fret. It's only an approximate 700% increase in HP over your fxr.
I'm sure it'll handle much the same.

Yep I plan on taking it nice and slow for the first while! The owner has a Hayabusa too, and said it is bigger physically than it, but the Hayabusa is a bit longer. That was a bit of a shock to hear!

Should be really good experience, I dont plan on killing myself on the bike.

If your wondering, the bike was the origional colour (shown on one of the photos on the site), then it went XR8 Blue (shown of 2 of the photo's), then it went black last year. Ower didnt like origional colour after he imported it, so he changed it, and got more decals for it. Then changed it again. I have the decal set to put on, with 2 more clear coats. Will be awesome

Anyone know any specs of then, or a site I can look at? I have only limited info on it so far, the book is coming with the bike :P

    Cheers

Cool bike, very tidy (from the pics) for a bike that old.

I had one as a loaner from a dealer in the UK and my impressions were very good, except for a borderline-legal front tyre and the fact that it was the middle of winter (but it always is, over there).

Stunning engine means there are about 3 redundant gears in the 'box.

It's a big old lump, so go careful early on - there are a lot of big forces at work riding one of those, and shiny paint doesn't like big forces...

    Enjoy it!
