    TripleCross 09 - KB team?

Ok so I got an email about the 09 TripleCross event and hopefully its still going to happen. I'm pretty keen to enter as its an event that is really going to test you in more ways than how fast you can ride a dirt bike. looking like it will be

    Mountain bike - 30km
    Run - 18KM
    Motorbike - 80km.

For me it would be a goal to just finish. I can run 18km now, but I'm pretty much stuffed at the end of it! LOL Dam hills kill me off!!

Looks like it will be over Easter or the weekend of the Auckland MX champs. So either March 22nd or 29th. They are also debating if to hold it on a Sat or Sun. I think that events like this or the T100 have to be on a Sat personally cause you need Sunday to recover!

Anyway it won't go ahead unless they get 250 competitors. So thought we should get a bunch of us to go. Anyone else keen? Definitely would have to start training now!!

This is what I got in my email.

    IF ??
I have had a number of enquiries recently as to whether there is to be another TripleCross
event in 2009 and hopefully the answer will be yes.
The first two events in 2007 and 2008 had some impressive TV ( 2007 on TV3 and Prime )
and magazine coverage (articles in 2008 June KIWIRIDER and 2008 June NZ
MOUNTAINBIKER ) and were popular with the sponsors who supported us so well, and the
    individuals and teams who entered.
Unfortunately neither event proved to be financially successful in that the cost of setting up
and running the events exceeded by several thousand dollars the income from entry fees,
which are the only source of income for the event. We do not want to make the event too
expensive to enter, so numbers are the key to making the event viable.
We have again had offers of prizes from our generous sponsors, and also offers of help to
advertise in magazines and web sites connected with the sports involved.
The big IF is numbers !
We need about 250 people in the event to cover running costs, ( include here fire and
ambulance services, public liability and fire insurance, machinery for course preparation,
paid helpers on the day, advertising posters, banners, trophies, magazine and web site ads)
Bottom line is: we will need 200 entries by a cut off date say 3 weeks before race day to ensure
    the TripleCross 2009 is held.

    WHEN ??
This year we would have clashed with Easter on the weekend we planned, so we went a week
forward and clashed with the Auckland motocross champs ! Bad choice of dates, but Easter is
much later in 2009 so we can take Sunday 22 March or Sunday 29 March. Let me know your
choice or any clash you can see as a problem.
Several people have suggested Sunday rather than Saturday, to allow people more time to
arrive and free up clashes with Saturday sport. Any comments welcome !!
    WHERE ??
Same venue as last 2 events, ( SF70 near to the Rangitaiki Café 35km from Taupo) with the
terrain challenging and almost all weather, and we have more tracks we can use to make the
actual track different for each stage.
    DISTANCES ??
There have been suggestions to make the courses harder for the open section, so making the
team event more testing for each discipline.
We are looking to increase the MTB stage to approx 30km, the RUN stage to approx 18km,
and the MOTORBIKE ENDURO stage to around 80km. This would make for a longer,
tougher event , more attractive to teams with approx 1 ½ to 2 hours for each stage, and
turning the individual TripleCross into more of an endurance event.
The junior event was popular and a first for this year. We hope to hold it again, keeping
distances similar to this year, with about 1 ¼ to 1 ½ hour total time for the juniors.
Please send me ASAP your ideas :
    1. If you want to be there ?
    2. Your preferred day ( Sat or Sun) and date and clashes with other events ?
    3. Changes to the distances ?
