Maybe part of the licence test should be watching a video of the skin graft ward in hospital.

rocketman,
that price is still cheaper than keepin a crim in jail/yr
If he came off his bike wearing what he was then I would doubt that he would ever do it again cos there wouldn't be anythink left of him to be able to. Each to their own on what they wear while out riding and only those who value their lives are the 1's you see riding with the correct protective gear on. I dont feel right if I am out riding without my protective gear on and you will always get those who are quiet happy to ride without it on. You see it all the time once Summer has arrived.
I had a 73 Triumph Bonneville in 1985,great bike can't remember what i wore at the time.
Its a generalization but i do not think it is good if people ride motorcycles with the idea they are going to get maimed.
What i mean is you should be able to get to your destination based on your skills and common sense not what you wear,i did say generalization but maybe someone will get my drift.
I will go as far to say,if you do not trust your ability buy a car before you are hurt.
Day temperatures up here rarely go below 32C with 34 to 37 being the norm this week, humidity is around 80% by 9:00 AM.
When i leave town (Most Sundays i will do between 300 and 600 kms) i wear heavy pants and boots,ADV jacket,Arai XD3 etc the heat can make it very uncomfortable but you get that (open road speed limit is 130kph) and gear can also be a barrier from the heat in some ways.
I rode to the internet cafe in the same style pants and boots but in a T shirt, i am fairly confident that using common sense i should get the 10/12 kms home.
I think full gear can give a false sense of security in some cases (but still say wear it)
i value my life a whole lot.
but every now and then, when not too much traffic out there, and feelin, carefree, invinsible, lol.
i do enjoy gettin the lid off.
it doesen't happen often and i'm really careful
x100.
nothing like it.
time and place
p.s.it doesn't really feel RIGHT
but it does feel free and good
bloody lids plus gloves sure makes it hard to have a ciggy without stopping![]()

Woohoo - Judgement Day 2, might have to order that sucker, I already have Judgement Day and it is pretty cool to watch. Great how some riders do stunts on the streets with high quality safety t-shirts on! I'm glad it's not my skin at risk.
It all comes down to what is socially acceptable at the time. Right now it is socially acceptable to say to (for example) a smoker "oh boo you are smoking you clog up the health system etc etc" ... smoking is a personal choice, its the same thing here, legally you only have to wear a helmet, I can't say if one day it will become socially acceptable to say to that person "boo rant rant whatever". I personally can't wait for certain things to come into this realm, fat people eating bad food and people who take elevators 1-2 floors ... walk you assholes!
I think it has to do with the example being set too.
newbies like me look up to the experienced bikers and wanna do what they do and act like they do.
But us newbies don't realise how retarded we are until we're skidding down the tarmac leaving a trail of skin, blood and favourite t-shirt in our wake.
I copped a harsh bit of road rash a few years ago wearing a t-shirt and jeans. One minute you're smiling, the next you realise you're a bell-end!
I hate it when you are riding naked and your dick gets caught in the chain
Good luck getting a plaster bandage to stick to that fella.............
As a 16,17yr old, did most of my riding without a helmet, summertime shorts and tee shirt on the old AJS 650,young and stupid![]()
