    Lees Valley Ride Sunday 12...

Just sorted out the tyres and brakes on my XT so I'm heading off for the Lees Valley circuit tomorrow afternoon (Sunday 12th Oct), if anyone fancies some Canterbury gravel surfing. The Okuku crossing should be ok as the Ashley is now running at sensible levels...
    Give me a bell on 0210 252 9576 if you're interested.
    Cheers Bish

So I'm in, have rung and am meeting Bish at 1pm at the West Eyerton Hall, corner of Downs Rd and North Eyre Rd.
I will probably go out via the Waimak North Bank unless I'm running late.

Ok, more future referance stuff for Lees Valley, deepest crossing today was about 380mm deep with firm enough bottom but the next one was similar depth with a bit of slippery stuff growing on the stones.
As above, the river Okuku Fox Creek which is the main ford crossing was only listed as flowing at 0.27 cumec at 4:30am this morning and 0.25cumecs at 5:15pm this afternoon.

I clocked 194kmm from the Shell garage on Morehouse Ave/Selwyn St intersection and back to there on my odometer but the gps reckons it's more like 188km.
The main shingle section from the turn off to White Rock took us 2:30hours including a couple of long chatty stops and was only 74km long.
It's about 105km from Oxford garage to Rangiora garage. Note we did not do any extra excrusions, just stuck to the main route and there were heaps of lambs and calves about.

All river crossing photos are Okuku Fox Creek starting looking from Oxford side then all bike shots are after I crossed and Bish is on the way.

Cheers BishXT, it was another nice ride.

    Thumbs up Thanks Transalper

Great ride today, thanks Transalper - the part after the Okuku was best with plenty of rain damaged ruts etc to hop over including a few last minute ones!
Here's some pics of the day:

Definitely head into there again, now I know a bit more about where the corners are !
