A cruel, cruel man would suggest you pick your lines/cornering better
But yes, maybe for A) Us slower sort of riders its not so noticeable and B) For those that are used to it, tis nuffink to worry about

Dont forget that its not all the sharft.... but the huge fly wheel spinning (even tho the 1100 sport has a lightened fly) and also the piston momentem from having a transverse V2...... try giving the Guz (or even a CX) a quick flick on the throtle while on the side stand, that aint nothing to do with the sharft, its not even turning
    cheers DD

No doubt PaulwhoknowsGuzziNZ will beable to fill us in on the heaviness of the flywheels, I think Mac trucks have lighter ones

I dunno about Mack trucks but you really would not want a Guzzi flywheel dropped on your toes!

As for the shaft drive thing, yes they 'can' do odd things if you load / unload them but you really need to be quite brutal. People that grew up with older (and less forgiving) bikes have no problems as they are naturally smoother riders.

Guzzis (in general) reward good riding and severly punish mistakes. They certainly need a little confidence and a strong hand. Arse them about and they will arse you about, a bit like a willful horse.

The hardest thing to sort handling wise is the heavy drive box on the rear wheel fed by a short swing arm. Lightness is where most chain drives win out and the short arm gives a choppiness.

On the upside, the linked brakes (on old Tontis) is great as you can trail the foot brake much deeper into a corner without standing the bike up.

What you do get is a really different bike that does things it's own way without bothering with daft style changes every 5 minutes and entry into a great brotherhood of true eccentics. A guzzi rider would never ever ride past another Guzzi on the side of the road without rendering all possible assistance.... Among other things..

Nice bike! (Dangerous: he's a nice bloke isn't he, glad you caught up with him)

As you all (I'm sure) know, I'm a Ducati girl at heart, but I do like Guzzis too.

Don't go there Lynda - The sunglasses are awful and the carbon fibre is so thick it weighs more than the parts it's replacing.

I have so many Ducati accessories and articles of clothing that, even if I wanted to (which, of course, I don't) I really can't change brands. Ever. I'm stuck with Ducatis for life.

(Which doesn't, of course, preclude Hamish from buying an MV......)

That would be from...... 95 to 102 which is what the RS is, with C kit cams etc...... of course you can get more out of them, at a cost.

Yep - I'm getting ever closer to gettin myself an old Guzzi as a weekend project. Some of the new ones are beautiful looking things, but I couldnt justify buying a new one.

But I reserve the right to continue to take the pi$$ out of them - ok!!??
