    HELP!! Bike won't start :((((((

Hello, Bike has been basically sitting since 4th of dec.

No time blah blah, tried to start once before about 2 weeks ago and it wouldn't start. So drew the cage up next to it and jump started it.

Tried to do the same today but with no luck........

    Anything I should know......

Would really like to get the damn thing running so I can ride it down to motohaus to be looked at --- just a general health check. But if it doesn't even start

I have the mechanical knowledge of a so please help.........

Sounds to me like a new battery is needed
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Do the lights work. ie. does the neutral light light up when you flick the key and pop it in neutral?

Dud fuel - drain your carbs, let a little new fuel flow through then try again.I don't stuff around and hit it with some ether to show it who's boss.

    Now I really did it

Well decided to do some reading:

    http://motorcycles.about.com/cs/main...ojumpstart.htm

I normally always leave the Good Battery vehicle running.

Now read this and said OK. So I should not start the car. Hmmm

Check all ends right....... kill switch off........ choke half way engaged......

So tried it Bzzzzzzzssssttttt .......... biggest blue spark I've seen. Fucking battery element (soft grey stuff) melts like butter on a hot pan - burn my favourite thumb - bloody metal clamps of the jumper cable burn through the rubber casings on all 4 ends +ve, -ve both batteries.

Atleast my car is ok........ but now I defifuckinetely need a new battery for the bitch of a bike..........

Oh yeah before the lights and all were fine, now after my little guy fawkes extravaganza they're all no little green neutral, no nothing.

How much would a battery cost for a 94 zzr250 - can you recommend a brand or type, etc

Jesus wept....hope the battery worked like a fuse/cutout. *shudder*. Yuasa batteries are what I've always used if that helps

And before you go to start it, check your oil level, many of my past bikes have refused to start whilst the oil level is below a certain point...

When a battary is deader than dead.... even jumping it wont work as the dead batt sucks all the goodness out of the jumper, which means that theres nothing left for the bike to fire up on.
