Well we bucked the trend and gambled on Kens for Logan to get some time on a clay MX track instead of sand tracks in the bush. Numbers were down as expected with the Dome and NZ Nats on but still a couple of hundred turned up.

My approach to his riding has been very low key in regards to MX. Call it being a wee bit protective but I preferred him racing thru the bush rather than jumping table tops and doubles, although I think he prefers this at present.

Strategy seems to be working in that he has never in 7yrs of riding taken a trip in the ambulance(doesn't take after his dad) yet all his mates that do only MX seem to get banged up every year. Strangely enough MNZ don't sanction under 10 yrs racing 2 man,GNCC or Cross country as it is deemed more dangerous than MX Hello.

Saying this, his speed in relation to others has always been OK but nothing like the top riders(Tipene's etc).

Well on Sunday the weather conditions turned out to be just perfect for the event albeit a bit windy first up. The track was mint and Ken has made some good jump adjustments for variation.

Consistency paid off for Logan this week as he took out first for the series in the juniors. He got a crap start but made his way through the field to finish in 5th place on the day. Branden Tipene left all the others behind and was second overall, 1 point behind Logs. He had a DNF in the second round that made it hard for him to win unless Logs tripped up.

So a very happy lad that proves to all the old addage that to finish first, first you have to finish!

I know Jean, loves riding the Sandpit, and doing the Mr Motorcycles Trail rides, couple of time's the NHMMX club day was on the same day as a trail ride, he wanted to do the trail ride, and if racing is rained off, want's to go to the Sandpit.

May have to get Jean into a Ken Fells MX series

Yeah its a fairly safe track. Probably back to the old Kawasaki good time scrambles in a way.
I mean where else do they learn?
