Brand new motor out of the states, balanced crank, decomp valve fitted, STM slipper clutch.
Brand new Factory HRC Wide Ratio gears Taller 3rd 4th and 5th. Vortex ignition.
Still ironing out a few things hope to be riding in the summer, work is full on. Tried to build a
bike that handles well and has a bit of stick. I'm to heavy for it to be fast, but its nice to ride.

Way cool. I started my road racing on KX500's. A lot of fun. Back in the day you could kick arse in F2 on one. Until the 6 hundies got over 100hp...then it was all she wrote!

Thanks, always been a 2t man, had a 98 steelie sold, an 01 afc stil got it and I built this one. One thing that pissed me off was the top end speed,
Fly pass a 4t to only to be hauled in half way down the straight, that and the handling.

Me too. I've ridden a couple of CR500's, and raced a 480 for a while. But never that well set up!

Be interested to see how well it last on the road at contance high revs ... Never had great mileage out of any of my PE400,IT465,YZ490 Kx500 CR500 2T's the list goes on , while riding them on the road , Hence the Motard TT500undy's now adays ... But the big 2strokes are still one of the best buzz's with ya pants on !!!

The bike is not set up to do high revs, Ive tried to use what it has standard, they are one of the most reliable motors ever. 25-30 hrs on a piston and ring, wiscoe $500 with gaskets half an hour and you can do it in the frame. I do 100hrs easily trail riding on my other without problems. It has been ported and the hit has been taken out and replaced with a linear power delivery. Its pretty smooth for a 2t, and it corners pretty dam well. Still is the big bore 2t just a bit more civilised.
Ive concentrated on gearing to keep it in the fat, start getting a big piston to go faster and maintaince and reliabilty goes though the roof. The HRC gears were built for the 85-88 cr500's. They were found to be no good for MX, they are awesome for motard or beach racing. 5th is taller, 3rd and 4th are alot taller, which enables you to stay in the fat longer, on a 2t that makes a big difference. They are very rare now days over 25 years old.Took me 2 years to find. The slipper was fitted to save the gears and crank. Still trailing springs, looks as though ill need the lightest spring as they don't have much back pressure.
The bike runs well but I'm an average rider and a lard ass at that, I still get off her with a bid smile. Hope to see youz at a track day and whatever else I can ride in . Cheerz.
