    New bike for the Duck...

So as you know the TLR is up for grabs ... which means of course I'm buying a new bike....

The bike in question is currently parked up at AMPS and is quite a different beast to my previous bikes...
I'm swapping a twin for a four.... and a "sport bike" for slightly tamer "naked sport tourer" ....

I'm also changing brands from Suzuki to ... (oh my God) HONDA ... :sly:

It's the allllllll new 2005 Honda CB900 Hornet.

Trouble is I can't take the Fooker out for a test ride. AMPS only has one and it's not available as a tester. (fairy muff)

So apart from the sit on it and alllllll the reviews I've read I still don't know how it rides.

Sooooo, has anybody got a late model CB900 that I could take for a ride ... I'd be more than happy to offer a ride on the TLR as compensation.
    Not even with yours!!!

Cyclespot has/had a Hornet on their floor, but I dunno if it's the 2004 or a 2005. Very sharp price, pity they're such sharks and have such crap regard for their customers.

BTW - isn't it a bit crap not letting you test-ride a bike you sound like you have a very high chance/risk of buying?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    I am envious
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

It is abit crap but in AMPS defence, It's the only one they have and it's got 0 k's on it. The next delivery is scheduled for March and I don't want to wait that long. I tried doing a deal with them over the TLR but they wanted 1,800 bucks on top .... The Hornet's 10,995 - you do the math.
So I'm trying to sell privately ... gggrrrrrr I just want me new bike!!!

Damn, lucky you man, and have a great ride
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

I can sort of understand you deciding to get one - they are a sharp price, but it's a huge change of bike type. How come?

    Very good question,

    A couple of reasons really...

I've been using the TLR as my daily commmuting vehicle since I moved house and it's not the easist bike for that sort of behaivour.

I've found lately on longer rides that my wrists and particularily my shoulders have been taking a beating - (read - Getting old)

Also, on more spirited rides I find I'm just too damn conscious of the bikes power to really enjoy the ride. This probably doesn't make sense but, I do stupid stuff like break too early, and I'm waaaay to slow to get back on the gas in case it lifts and get a bit hairy.... I'm just a wus to be honest.

The big one is... I can probably sell my 1999 bike with 31,000 k's on it and get a brand spanking new one without changing much dolleros.

Tried a 900 Hornet - with PC3, K7Bs, & Micron cans. - Seating possy is great, engine is great, suspension is shite! Dont go throwing it at speed into bumpy turns - it feels like an H1 Kawasaki with more power and hence more ability to tie itself in knots. However, get the suspension sorted............
