Dont be too quick to judge. Not their fault. It was ordered.
He actually says nice things about bikers.

Arthurs Pass Store and Cafe manager Grant Molloy said he was told by Caltex there was no 91 octane fuel available to fill his order. He ordered the petrol a week ago and it was due to be delivered on Thursday, but never arrived.

He said many motorcyclists refuelled at Arthurs Pass.

However, they tended to be organised people and would make other plans if they knew there was no petrol at Arthurs Pass.

Just wait till all the gas stations near the closed ones run out as well

By Monday, there will be a great big black hole of no gas

edit: reading that article, who the hell is getting 250-300km on 10L in a modern bike? I get around 220km on 15L

    Avg. Litres/100km (Overall): 7.22
    Best Litres/100km: 5.25
    Worst Litres/100km: 8.60

In 10 months, 702.77 litres and 9,728.00 km of owning my CBR600RR5. So on average 220 from 15 seems bang on.

I was going to say you were a heavy handed bugger... until I saw the worst on the zx10 was 8.83L/100km (trackday), average tho was 6.75L/100km over 12,000km.

New bike has only been owned for 3 weeks, but the above post is about what I am getting, but probably running rich.

Piss off. We are flat out bridging 91 into the canterbury area from other depo's this week. Ship delayed into chch. Small Odd ball sites like A/P are at the bottom of the list, Keeping the main stations operating for the long weekend is more important.

Who's up for a ride to Oxford this weekend, fill up at the petrol station a pie and pint and home again?

Going north of ChCh, I go via Oxford, nice bypass route... I can get about 280 km's out of a tank...on a good day. On a bad day... just short of a gas station...

Don't you just hate those bad days? Especially on a hot day in full gear and a big, heavy bike....

Do they have 95 petrol ?

The Stuff story keeps saying they ran out of 91 octane. So that's no big deal if they have 95..but I doubt it would make news unless it was a completely dry station?

I was supposed to be doing the Sth Island lop- Greymouth races - long weekend bike thingy but pulled out, mainly due to the crap weather forecast. Hope my mates get over the Arthurs Pass OK if they venture that way. Those 1098s with 15 litre tanks wont make Grey to Springfield. Even the thrifty 675 would be pushing it..ha, I typed that before I realise the pun.

They only have ONE pump... it is NOT a gas station...just a shop that sells petrol... if they have any...
The racing is on Sunday, and they could go via the Lewis... or carry a tin...

Yeah but they have plenty of coal, so all the steam powered bikes will be ok.
