Excuse my ignorance but can you ride a Maramarua or is just certain events its open for?

The art of being wise is knowing what to overlook.
greg at power adventures does the rides in the forest best to ring him or huntly honda for the details
Thats ok I wasn't trying to be smart. Maramarua is clay, and the tracks are kind of open and fast for the most part, usually slippery so when you get out of shape its usually at pace. He has put in a few tighter sections over the past year or so but they have been pretty short sections when I have ridden there. It will be muddy after the rain we have had. Some sections are fun with lots of tree roots. Fun for a change if you like that sort of thing. And cleaning your bike and gear for hours afterwards.
No rush for me to get out there at the moment. Unless they let pushbikes on the track.

Had an offer I couldn't refuse (basically a free ride at Gregs Twilight ride tonight at Maramarua) and had a blast. Conditions were slippery, some new trails that I hadn't been on, some pretty cool stuff and some tricky sections too. Only 30 riders and no kids or Homo Chariots to get in the way.
Having not ridden in slippery conditions for awhile I was quite tentative at first and it took me an hour to complete my first loop on red trails on not great tires. Got stuck on one tricky winding up hill with lots of tree roots criss crossing a steep portion. Didn't like going down one hill with front and rear locked up but still gaining speed either!
Second loop took me 50 minutes even though it was a little slipperier with some drizzle falling. By the 3rd loop I was getting even more confident and it only took me 42 minutes and I'm sure a 4th would have been even quicker but I called it quits at that point.
Some of the trails used were older trails that have been used before, some that have been tight and rutted have been made wider. There has been a bit of work put in at this venue. Some of the hill climbs are a real blast!
So a good afternoons riding, not sure of the costs because I didn't have to pay (a friend shouted me this ride) and Greg didn't make him pay for either of us due to some deal they did (which didn't involve me writing this report lol)!
Be good to get down there a bit more often because it does involve a different skill set to riding Woodhill but Tuesdays are not really a good day for me.
yeah its a godd venue eh. that would be the suicide hill. its bloody freaky. you wanna bit of space between you and the next guy cos once your going , you,re gooooooiiiiiinnnngggggg and if you stack the pile up wouldnt be prettyy.
keen to get to the next one...
Quite probably. I don't think there will be much tight and tricky in the GNCC. More like fast and dusty if last year was anything to go by.
No it wasn't suicide hill. We didn't do that area of the forest on this ride. It was just a rutted down hill and I tried riding on the edge of the trail out of the ruts. But the ruts actually had more traction to stop you building speed. My mate did the same thing and threw it away before he gained too much speed. The thought did flash through my mind I have to admit, cause I'm a pussy on slippery downhills with bad tires!
I imagine some of it will be in the GNCC. It was pretty fast ( even for a slow coach like me) last time I was there because it was dry. I'm keen to go on the next twilight if I can get it off. Like danger says it is really different to woodhill. Pity I missed this tuesday gone could have done with the practice for matata.
You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!
