my gripe with electric bikes / cars / whatever is this

the country allready has difficulty generating enough power for everyone to run their household items on.

if you have a bike which is running at an average of 10kw, which runs for 40 minutes, that would mean to charge it over an hour, you would need roughly 7kw of power to run it.

thats like running 3 big oil heaters on full tit, at the same time for an hour.

    so what you say?

say we decide to get battery powered cars using the same techinque - and say you use 40kw on average of power in your car, and you want to drive for an hour. - where the fuck are you going to get 40kw worth of power from?

then what if everyone down your street drives one of these 'brilliant' 'clean green' inventions

100 people, charging their car at say 20kw = 2000KW

am i the only one that sees the problem here??? no country's power grid would be up to powering cars.

the best solution: PETROL & DIESEL.

    problem solved.

yeah and then theres always Bio-fuel, that may prolong the eventual extinction of petrol bikes. I wonder if the bi-fuel companies will give you the option to choose designer fragrances coming from your exhaust too! I'd choose Lynx!

Bio fuel blows because half the forests in world are being chopped for crops that produce biofuel. It's the same reason Food is expensive at the moment, partly because famers have figured out they can make more money from fuel than food.

I heard a while back that it takes 0.8 litres of petrol to make 1 litre of biofuel... not really sustainable.

    The answer is nuclear power.

I think that its pretty cool. They would be using somethign like a BLDC motor that put out a good ammount of power for the size and running Lithium batteries you would have a very light set up. I'd be up for one. I think that given some time that these bikes will be competing in thier own clases.

Yeah I can see it now, she's just put the Gentle Annie on spin cycle and whisper quiet, spins around the forest strips him clean of his underwear. A Fisher & Paykel powered KTM!

Sounds dangerous. If the noise police see that quiet bike, they will stand on everyone until there are no petrol bikes allowed any more. Well, maybe not, but you get my drift.. I reckon it will be the thin edge of the wedge.

The flag drops and we are off LOL. No noise, just the purr of contact on contact

Then after 30 minutes of cross country you pit. No fuel just a battery change.

Fark me. What happens when you go through a puddle
    Does the bike liven up?

HA....Ha... you just get a bloody big electric shock!!!!

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!

Yeah to get equivalent internal combustion performance out of an electric motor you are going to need batteries that can consistently deliver 800-1000 AMPS!
Short that lot out by drowning your bike (which would bypass any fuses anyway) and you'd most likey weld your knackers to the frame.... once the seat melts through in about 500 milliseconds.. codpiece
