So are the Traffic Reg's 1976 being repealed ?

One of the schedules stipulates dB levels for different vehicles already - why do fuckwits have to introduce new rules when the current ones are not being enforced.(not that I want them enforced on bikes - its a safety issue)

    See below.

    [[Schedule 1
    r29(2)
Maximum noise output of new vehicles
    1. In this Schedule,—
    (a) The term “gross vehicle weight”, in relation to a motor vehicle, means the weight specified as the gross vehicle weight of the vehicle by the manufacturer thereof:
    (b) The term “power output”, in relation to an engine, means the net power produced by the engine, measured in accordance with International Standard I.S.O. 1585.
    2. When measured in accordance with test methods laid down in British Standard 3425 or in I.S.O. Recommendation 362, the maximum permitted noise level shall be—

    Noise
    Level
    Vehicle Type dBA
    Moped 77
Motor cycle having an engine capacity of 125 cm3 or less
    82
Motor cycle having an engine capacity of more than 125 cm3
    86

These levels also apply to any vehicle that has had its exhaust system modified.

Now Im sure I saw stamped on the side of a 'standard' K5 GSXR600 muffler that the noise output was 91dBA (stationery test which isn't the BS Method either).

Bringing new rules in is often just is pandering to public outrage. What a load of shite.

I've also been advised by the LTSA that the police can issue a $150 fine for excessive noise from a vehicle - the assessment is subjective (opinion of the officer) taking into account the condition of the vehicle, time of day etc.

How many cops do you know who have enforced this on the boy racers ?

Flithy lawyers/MP's most annoy me cause they seem to have their head in the sand about what their actions do to other people not in their immediate vicinity - in a word SELFISH.

Good word that; sort of a hybrid of 'flighty" and 'filthy'.
Maybe we could add it to the KiwiBiker lexicon, right before "gargre".

    Cool

Is'nt it so frustrating that people that make all the decisions rgarding other peoples lives and the way they live them have their heads so far up their they have to move their tonsils out of the way to notice the thumbs up they give themselves . Any man who became a parlimentery optician would have a brilliant career correcting the short-sightedness that clearly occurs once you enter parliment on most levels and become dazzled by the brilliance of the bullshit! just keep your shades on an keep giving them the they need!!
