It's the ride after the 41st traverse of course...

You're going to believe Readers Digest?
They've obviously condensed the map down a bit.

The track traverses the old state forest 42.........so they called it the 42nd traverse. Ta Da!

Do they actually let you out of Waihi on your own?

Google 42 traverse and lots of mountain biking info and track pictures etc pop up, thats how I started off finding out about it.
More useless facts, it's 46 kms long and best ridden from Kapoors road to Owhango cause the pubs at Owhango and, once you've found it on your map, have a look on Google Earth and you can find it there and get some idea of the topography.

Not useless facts at all Crisis- I pick up my new bike in a week and from the 20th till the 30th I will be escaping all my responsibilities in Waihi and heading rotorua-taupo- napier-palmerston north-gisborne. then back here for a couple of paid rides then Im off to the Parihaka festival near Egmont. I will go via Whangamomona and then back up through the Mokau- aotea harbour - kawhia roads and pop out at huntly then head across home from there.

I might just call myself a ADVRider and post in the newbie thread
Start a thread for the Parihaka trip and see who wants to come
Retired- just some guy with a few bikes......

    Maps? what are those?

Mostly we just follow the person who has the least vague idea about where we are going and each rider keeps half an eye on the person behind them so no-one gets left behind.

I did have a GPS on this ride though and have GPX tracklogs of Fishers Track & 42 Traverse, as well as Ratamaire Road, Ohakune Domain loop, Whanganui River Road and Whangaehu Valley Road all of which we did on this trip. Plus I've got the Matamata side of Thompsons track from the weekend before. I think these can be imported into Google Earth as well.
