    Power Commander help

    Afternoon all,

A simple question, can I apply a new map while the engine is running??

The power commander switches off after you turn the key on, so the only way to get the map on or off is to start the bike and i don't have a 9v power adapter for it.

I have a GPS which I use in car (rarely, I now hate driving my car) and on my bike. The solution for power was to buy a waterproof ciggy adapter, drill a hole through a flat part of the side fairing to house it, then got an auto-sparkie to wire it so it was always on power.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, you can apply a map while the bike is running. Unless you have the 9v adapter, you can't load it at any other time.

btw, this knowledge pertains to the pc3 usb, haven't had experience with the others

If you haven't done it before, who did the install etc?

When the Powercommander software loads up, it should obtain the current map on the bike, unless its a base map/zero map, you may want to save the map, then take the new one, open it, and send to the bike.

I used to swap between two on my old bike, so very used to the process

Yes can do... you can wire that 9v adaptor to a couple of ring terminals and mount it straight to the battery if required. Easiest way to load multiple maps is either through the optional LCD screen, or through the optional multifunction hub and the map selection switch. If you're ever in Chch, I can show you an SV1k that has both. You can't modify the finer granularities of the map (with the touch screen) is the only let down, but you do get the low/med/high adjustments the same as the buttons give.
