I think the fact that yamaha and honda arnt in the superbikes this yr means they dont have a bike that is worth spending money or time on. And next yr is next yr so until then.

Never - that is what ignore is for.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Suzuki must be shitting themselves....they showed the 2004 Suzuki on MOtorworld on Sky today - and it STILL LOOKS THE SAME and doesn't put out much more power....yet Yam, Kwak and Honda are all going to surpass that benchmark (based on paper).....

However, what does this mean to the road rider?? Feck all....if you ring up Suzuki (as I did) most of the K3 bikes sold in NZ have been the Phillip Island Journo bikes at $18500 - not the full retail bikes...not that this means much - but probably signifies that riders have found out that having more HP doesn't necessarily mean a quicker bike on anything other than straight roads.  Why put out a bike with all the horse-power and then retard it in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears?

These are the issues that the others are also going to face next year?  When is enuf enuf?  180HP Yam - fuck, the Infostrada SBK Duc only put out an 'acclaimed' 186.  Who in the real world uses the 168hp of the Suz - let alone 180hp of the 2004 R1?

My point all along has been, buying the 'so called best bike' is a crock of shit......the average rider can't tell the difference - anyone on the site who can is talking shit (myself included - being below average) - as we all ride no where near the limits of the bikes to see their faults.  The R1, 954,929, 996, 998, 999 etc - are all the same to us mortal riders - it comes down to personal preference.  You read a review from some ex-racer who picks the R1 over the 954, or GSXR over ZX9 because one didn't push the front coming in to the back straight at Silverstone pulling max speed, grinding the read can and scuffing a hole in the elbow of their leathers - how many riders ride their bike like that?  It is bullshit.....give me real every day people testing bikes and I will believe you their is a difference.

In all honesty - the K3 is a great marketing engine, you pay all that money for a bike you use 75% of the potential of......why - cause you THINK it is the best - for what - the odd weekend thrash???  Come on, no bloody difference.

Interestingly enuf - the Honda 954 (yes some 40odd cc's down) has better lap times around some tracks - why - better handling and more user confidence - something Honda are reknowned for.  I am first to admit the R1 doesn't have the horse power of the Suz, nor the 954 does - however the Puke track day showed, it and the 954 are still potent weapons, beating other riders who are 'ex-racers' and 'weekend warriors' on superior horse power bikes.

Next year will be interesting, and even on Motoworld, the Suzuki head marketing exec indicated the 2004 Suz is up against what will be the hardest sales year of their history in the 1000cc market - with their competitors bringing out their best wares.

There are of course those among us who need to justify the cost of buying a new bike, and those whose brand loyalty blinds them to all other options....but that is what makes biking interesting - god forbid if we all like the GSX100R - then all bikes would look boring.

The ZX10R has to be one of the nicest looking bikes, as does the ZX6RR and ZX626 - Kwak have truly lifted their game.....the R1 looks the money and the CBR1000RR looks to be a road legal GP bike (of sorts) - yet the 2004 GSXR (in my opinion) looks the same as the K1 and earlier.

I know the 'issues' with my bike - however in 2002 - it was still rated ' king of the mountain' - that is enuf for my - technology moves on......

Well - enuf of my speel - my problem is, unlike some here, I like ALL bikes, fuck - it would have 10 parked in my garage if I could afford the insurance.  999 for mid corner stability, R1 for sheer adrenaline, GSXR for a horse power thrill, 954 for ease, ZX9R for stability and honesty.

Yet all bikes have their issues also, even the mighty GSXR is blighted with a supposed 'vague' front end according to reviews....again these bikes are tested by people who ride in the top 5% of riders.

PS - I don't want to ride a boring bike, had enuf of that on the VTR....I love the R1 for all its idiosyncracies.

As for Kiwistorm, having me there, not in a month of sundays....

Anybody with two brain cells to rub together should know that 2004 is only a colour change for Suzuki's range, 2005 will see a new model,, where have you had your head wkid, up your arse ??????, honestly you type faster than u think.
