    which insurance company

whats every ones view on them greedy? im tying to get insurance on a 250ccc bike and nobody wants to take me. partly beacause im 17 lerners, and aparently looking at a high powered bike(250cc high?). even if i was 18 they wont consider me either. they say we will only consider you on a 125cc bike. even under my parents name same thing. how does every one mange to get a cbr250cc for a first bike and get insurance, or am i missing the fact they dont have insurance?

help please is there a "kind" insurance comapany that would insure me?

    Jeepers.

    That's a bit of a hard one.

You could try Vero, but I think your premiums are always going to be a bit steep, or insurance difficult to get until you're over 25.

    Bit of a bugger really.

Would transferring ownership to your Dad and then paying him to insure with you as a named rider work?

Maybe the redoubtable Osacr will come to your rescue.

    Good luck.

I was looking to, but since I'm doing HP its all sorted - my previous write off was on a ZZR and the contract was under my mothers name, and I was a registered rider.

I was with AMP, but I think AMI specialise in it - or you could try that 'protecta' and various other specialists, or even try a broker..

Its hard getting insurance for CBRR's and ZXR's as soon as I said ZXR they said goodbye, which actually pissed me off.

Park the CBR (if you've already got it) for a time and with the money you save on insurance you could buy an old GN or something(or a new GN $2995) to get your restricted on.
I started on an old C50 step thru and didn't bother with insurance til I got something worth insuring. Just be careful. If you cause an accident you're still young so you've got all your life to pay for it

    National Auto

They are for sure the best priced.
Ive got full insurance on my 150cc bike in my name (im 22btw) and everything.
    Only $300 a year!

albeit the excess's are high but just the same as most other companies. for under 25year olds without a full license.

I used to work for AA Insurance, wouldnt recommend them for motorbike insurance. really good policy but a bit expensive for under 25's
I would doubt Vero (I worked with them) would insure you either. but give national auto a call. they are really good.

I reckon Andyadams has the answer, get yourself a tried and trusted GN125 or 250 and take it from there, the bikes are cheap, easy to run & maintain.

Insurance companies will always fuck you, no matter how cheap we think our installments are, we are still getting fucked!

Cant say I was terribly thrilled with Protecta.

While were on the topic, who's a good insurer with low excess's for an over 25 learner on a GN250?

still, I know what its like trying to insure shit when you are young, I remember them wanting to charge me 3200 to insure my $5500 levin when I was 17, I always felt like the guy from that ad on the radio who lost his licence. "but I was told you would insure me" "sorry mate, you're 17, we won't insure you"

But when I had my RG the insurance company must have thought it was a scooter, only cost me 140$ a year full cover, obviously they just keep getting worse every year

I pay $45 per month for my Suzuki GZ250, and my policy states that my excess is $250 BUT in the fine print it says that if I have had my license for less than 2 years or I am still on a learners then I must add a further $500 to the $250. :sly:
