    Buell Blast 500 ?

a KB friend has put me onto thinking about one of these bikes due to me just not getting to grips with the SV.

Anyone had one? Know how they run? Are they a good bike I guess I am asking

Look I might be wrong but I have never heard much good about them other than them being really low,

There are BOUND to be a few disaffected owners out there but be very careful here! There are bugger all of these things around in NZ and it will be an orphan!

Wots wrong with the SV btw?? A bit tall or something else?

    Hey Paul

The SV is an awesome bike and I would recommend it to anyone.

Its just not the right bike for me. With all the issues I have had with it I am having problems relaxing with my riding. I have decided to explore other options rather than give the riding away altogether.

From what I remember of the online commentary from American riders, the Blast has the reputation of being an 'orrible little underpowered, saggy-handling, overpriced-for-what-you-get dog.

    YMMV.

    Funny.

All the people I've spoken to WHO ACTUALLY OWN THEM are as happy as a pig in shit with them.

One of my customers has fitted a pro-series race kit (sounds PHAT), some cool graphics and loves it to bits.

They are friggen cheap because no one wants 'em and they are really good fun. Con someone outta a test ride.

    Hey WT

So what can I expect from a bike like this? The ad on TM says top speed of 155 is that true? If so I think after 6 months I will want something a bit more so maybe I should just hang in there with the SV.

How hard is it to get proper servicing if they are orphans (Blame Paul for that one). Bearing in mind I am limited on my ability to adjust and tune the bike due to lack of knowledge

Servicing is no problem as Buell parts are as cheap as chips and mechanically they're very simple.

As to top speed, who cares? How often do you cruise faster than 140kph anyway?

Parts are easily available from any Buell dealer and if you keep it for 12 months, you'll learn heaps.

Before any of you other pricks comment, no I don't have any for sale.

Well madduck what can I say.
Bike riding is 90% a head game --If you feel confident then fuckit buy the bike.
Personally i think itd be perfect for ya -but then who am I to talk--I have a love affair wit XJ900s for god sakes.
I think the buel would be good for you -but then I think you'd love a goose or a SV400 too

Hey! Like I said, I was only reporting what I heard. Some of the US Guzzi guys had them for wives first bikes and didn't like them (IMHO they is one ugly mother of a bike btw)

I know this will sound stupid BUT check out a Moto Guzzi Breva 750. Light, easy to ride, moderate power and italian...
