Seriously - What's a HISS?

I think bugjuice is almost right - I think it's "Honda Integrated (or Ignition?) Security System". It means unless you have the original microchipped key, the bike won't go, so the old "jam the screwdriver in the ignition and turn" trick won't work. Neither will a key cut using the original. Bikes with the HISS system have a small tag attached to the original key, which the owner has to keep, so if he loses both keys, he/she can order a replacement from Honda ("I'm sorry -that will have to be ordered ex-Japan, and will take at least three weeks by our slowest rowboat, and will cost ten times what is reasonable, and 40% more than if you ordered it from a Honda dealer in Australia and they ordered it from their Honda Japan. Now fuck off and stop bothering us. Waddya mean, "Customer Service"?!? Are you insane?!? We're not here to serve customers!!")

FYI you can find those for almost anybike in aftermarket parts mags. You might have to send to the states to get them though.
