Carjam is the new black (Carfax is so 20th century)

Some of you probably already noticed but carfax.co.nz, a free service for bike (and car if you must) details has rebranded to Carjam (maybe we should grab Bikejam domain name ...?)

Hope this is not too intrusive but we can tell from our site stats that Carjam gets a lot of visitors from Kiwibiker - thanks heaps guys !!!!!!

p.s. Feel free to give us a hard time about the new name - everyone else is

So what is better than before? A rose by any other name...etc
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Yeah this is one we are constantly responding to - all the information we provide is fetched in real time from the NZTA (was LTSA). Our FAQs describe how to go about getting this corrected with them. It is 99% caused by operator data entry error during WOF and causes many many headaches. We don't have write access to LTSA database unfortunately and writing to them on our cutomers behalf only results in the process described in the FAQs - sorry and we will continue to try and work on this to improve things

Does the government maintain a database of info about peoples toes? Maybe when you go to the docs for a "warrant" ...?

In truth you are right not that much has changed visibly, same great services - behind the scenes many things have changed in preparation for features in our roadmap which will be revealed when we get there, these features include more community oriented things which we hope will bind the vehicle buying and selling community into a safer, easier place - communities => sticking together => stickiness => jam (?) - these features may not appear tomorrow but we'll get there - so much to do and only 24 hours in the day ...

    Fits nicely with toejam.co.nz

I use carjam all the time - very helpful in my line of work just getting simple information that usually would've cost $2 via motocheck

Very handy seeing how many km's people are doing too.

True (I am one of those guilty of incorrect entry) but also by operator data entry at the old Post Office - there is a hell of a lot of incorrect data of motor vehicles at the initial change over when minions who know nothing about motor vehicles entered the data in the first place....complete with spelling mistakes.

Two of my vehicles (both German, but that has nothing to do with it) show a 100,000km reduction in odo reading at the second entry....obviously first recorded with the 10th km digit. One is a 1987 vehicle - did they even have computers in 1987?

So a lot of this data comes from paper entries transcribed to computer.

communities => sticking together => stickiness => jam => traffic jam=> get a bike and avoid all the jams.

    Personally I prefer carmarmalade.

A cool feature would be a real time link to vehicles reported stolen. See a car on the side of the road, for sale or just sifting. clickety = stolen

I hope you don't mean you're going to start showing exactly where our vehicles live on a map, just to add to the service of giving thieves the address of vehicles..
