Raining over here as well and very cold as well. I'll wait for update ...

If you can get the PD through the Karapoti etc at the moment I will admit I'm a girly KLR rider who can only handle a little one

    Anyways...

Its cold and rainy here at the moment so I'm going for a coffee. If the weather clears at all Fred and I will at least do Odlins Rd but maybe not until 12-1

    will update later this morning

Dave, after I saw you today I ran into gentleman just down the street who owned a DR and was very interested in doing Sutherlands with a group, he is a KB member but I got the impression he doesn't hang out in here much if at all.

He also tried to claim he was getting too old for adventure riding, I warned him some of our regulars (Hint:Aslan) may have something to say about that.

Anyway hopefully said gentleman will pop up and introduce himself shortly.

Hey eddie "tried to claim" is a bit strong!! Its not so much that I sometimes think I'm too old it's just that I have started falling off and breaking bits - of me not of the DR!!

The last time I went down that track I was on my own and fell off coming out of a stream and broke two ribs. It took me an hour and a half to get the DR back upright again, and turned around. So I would be keen to do this ride again only with company!

As far as riding goes I generally do about 35,000k a year - probably mostly on the ST1300 but also on the DR650. How does that compare? Generally I find I can keep up with whatever group I am riding with. However I do have to accept that, these days, when I break something, it takes a lot longer to heal! It makes me think twice which is probably not a bad thing.

But hey - thanks for thinking that I'm a gentleman! Hopefully no one from the U-Sillies Club will see that.

Hi Kennif - would be good to have you along on the Wellington / Wairarapa Rides - the young bucks whov'e commented already Eddie, JunkManJoe and Paladin are all great value - keeps us older fellas young at heart.

I came on your Ulysees Gravel Ride out the back of Hinakura and on to the Gladstone last year. Since then I've acquired a DR identical to yours - blue with an IMS tank - Ciao Aslan

    Sunday 25 July

Anyone interested in a ride tomorrow? I was thinking of Odlins Rd which will keep us clear of mud & flooded rivers. Or any other suggestions?

Hi Joe, It's all still water collection area, locked gates, and foot accsess only, with permit or was last time I was in that way for any distance past the water treatment plant which is the building which you can see in the pic. That building is right by the site of the old Morton Dam, which used to be part of the water supply system for the Wgtn, they stil take water from a weir further upstream, it also used to be piped through a tunnel a weir on the headwaters of the Orongorongo river. Not sure if they are still doing that or not.

arr a little further down stream from the last pic, looks like a bridge, but it may be a pipe, and the hut just may be a collection station aye...

I'd like to attend - should have the heap back together by then (pulled the swingarm out to lube the linkages and stuff a couple of weeks ago, never got arount to putting it back together)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
