Good ride fellas, thanks for that. Sorry if the @ was a bit slow on the way back over the hills. Pampa, Twisty, good to meet you both. Joe, love that bike mate - very nice indeed!

But seriously, adv bike drag races off the lights on the Hutt motorway? HAHA, THAT WAS AWESOME! I'm never going to grow up.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

    Things I learnt last night:

High wind (Even by Wellington standards), chunky gravel, steep inclines, road tyres, and an ancient 2 tonne tractor isn't a great combination, but it will get there.

A SM400 is faster off the line than a R100GS PD, but the PD will start to reel in the SM400 from about 70km/h.

At that time the SM400 will be in 4th, while the PD is just reaching the top of 2nd gear.

A R100GS PD will rev to 8600rpm, even though the published redline is 6500rpm

4000rpm, which is exactly 100km/h in top gear Mr Officer sir.

It was actually a drag race on a deserted airport (i.e. adventure bike code for Hutt motorwy). I would just just like to say I am the 10 foot winner.....woot

Took a speedy run through the Mungakutukutuku's last night. Awesome fun when there's nothing coming the other way
A lot of the first half from Pram, mainly on the link between the pram track and Perhams road, forgotten the name of that bit, has been graded. Although that sounds a bit rubbish for us boys, the surface is still nice and loose to ride on - and soft in case the worst happens
Really cool drifties, sun shining, trails to ourselves (just me and Stormtrooper), heaps of riding-no time for photos or video I'm afraid.
Felt like I was riding in a commercial for %100 pure NZ.
What a way to spend a Thursday evening
    Better than social netball!
Last minute decision to go - will post up here next time!

Just thinking about the ride and without the break and detour to Orange hut and the trip up Rimu Road, I think I made it from Pram to Karapoti carpark in less than an hour
    Could that be right?
    Better try it again

Yep way more fun than the akatarawa road, or the paekakariki hill road!
