I am going to take a look at the weather in the morning.......I know it's only water.....but, I may have to ride through a lot of it.....

Yeah, little bits of water turn into lots at 100km+.

I don't mind taking a shower, but I wouldn't stand in the bloody thing all day.

Right I'm out the door in 5 min, see whoever turns up in Shannon at about 9. Those who are meeting at the shell station see you in 30min.

Good to get out on another ride even if the crew could be counted on 1 hand. At least there was no dust and with the odd shower on the way to the dams the ride down was very pleasant. Then we decide to head for Takapari Road via the gravel up through Pohangina then up to the A Frame Hutt we could see it was a lovely day for painting in Dannevirke Bart looks like you could have been painting outside. Then down for the ride home I hope Howie and Aslan are home safe and well. Cheers for the ride GSers

Thanks for the company GSers. I just got in the door, stopped for a coffee in Otaki. It was a good day out, and I enjoyed getting up Takapari rd as I hadn't been up there before. I'll put some pictures up later.

Congratulations, you must have one of the few photos of Dannevirke in sunlight. It doesn't happen very often. There was only a few minutes of it today. I must admit we didn't get as much rain as expected.

On the up side, I did all the outside painting yesterday, and almost finished wallpapering the bathroom today. House is almost done.

Good on you hard buggers toughing it out in those atrocious (is that how you spell it?) conditions.

some Pics from Takapari Road today

A magic ride thanks Howie - great company and just the right degree of difficulty up on Takapari Road - I was really chuffed to make it down to the A Frame Hut on my 'leven fiddy - simply because I didn't realise I gone past the point where I would normally stop due to the gnarly descent to the hut.

Some pics follow - Mods hope these don't infringe size limits

Looks like fun guys, but like Marks and Bart, I decided to stay indoors

So inspired by your bad weather exploits I am determined to get out this weekend... sat or sun, I'm easy. But I would really like to get a bit of a shorter but gnarlier ride in.
    Options close to home are:
    1. Karapoti Crossing
    2. Odlins Rd.
    3. Thomsons hill from Otaki to Manakau (awesome fun last time I did this with stormtrooper and Paul!)
or any other new one would be good as well.

I wonder if "the hill" would be accessible, last time I went it was about a year ago and we didnt get past the second river crossing...

Dont want to do big road or gravel kms as my gear is neither particularly waterproof or warm But over to the Rapa is good as I can link it with an early morning Karapoti crossing to get me warmed up, and probably a bit wet too

Add your ideas and availabilities on here and I hope to see some of you again this weekend...
