Well it was another crackin ride on Odlins Road, great to meet the new riders and congrats to everyone who broke their Odlins cherry! And the weather pretty much held out for us which was a bonus!

I have to say it's definitely more cut up in there these days and the run back up to the saddle from the Hut was still challenging(and scary!) for me, but wicked fun nonetheless!

Next stop: tackling it from the Otaki Forks side!

Hope to see you guys again soon & thanks to everyone for a great day out!
    Cheers, Dave

Yeah, thanks for coming along guys. Great ride today.
The three of us had a true adventure ride on the alternative ride back...
Ended up at a fallen tree blocking the track a couple of K's in. No chainsaw so back up the hill, that I was glad we wouldnt have to ride up on the way down
Anyway back up after a while pushing and shoving each other, past a 4wd that was stuck fast - no winch!!!! and the rescue team on the way down for it ...and eventually back to where we left you
then an easy ride back to the road
Cool thing when down there and resting for a while, planning what to do about the tree; a Morepork flew in and landed only about 3 meters away from us, he stayed there for quite a while looking at us and hopping about the branches close to us, then he took off. Really great to see one in the day, that close as well
Unfortunately none of us had a camera
Look forward to the photos from the rest of the ride though.

    Definate unfinished adventuring

Reckon a new entrance could be down in reikorangi, up through the pine forest and up to Odlins road, back to the hut, then through to Otaki Forks...

...got a bit of research to do yet, and maybe a couple of axes taken along on the bikes to clear that bloody tree! But cant be sure that thats the right road yet, again more rekky's needed

Cheers for the shots Joe, great for reliving the days adventures after a bath, a belly full of food and getting the fire stoked up

Well, that was a good day but I am so sore now, especially between my shoulder blades. While the G/S is a load of fun the old school suspension does beat you up a fair bit.

    1) The Africa Twin
    2) The Storm Trooper KLR650
3 & 4) A scene familiar to many Wellington riders, Pablo having gear lever issues, again. Pablo rode straight into the hut and swapped his lever for a spare he was carrying.
5 & 6) Joe on the track from the hut down to the river.

And the video. This shows the good stuff, though the quality isn't great.

Great ride, thanks for organising that, awsome group. I think I wore a couple of mil off the bottom of the Africa's skid pan, very entertaining :-)

Glad you got my adv meets supercross moment in there near the end.
Somehow that angle doesnt show how close you got to being pushed off the cliff by the Africa twin though
Great job though, going for air time on that big bike
