    Unhappy Expired Licence!

I went to the bank today and used my drivers licence for ID for something and the teller says "Oh, this has expired!".

    WTF?

I look and it expired back in December 2003!

I never look at my licence, it's just shoved into the back of my wallet.

Now it looks like I've got to do my theory and practical again.

    Don't they send out reminders?

If only I'd used it for ID and someone had pointed it out before December 2004...

Test isn't so hard, just remember that when the sun is in your eyes, you must go to the side of the road and wait for it to go down, not look at the centre of the road or the left side

I sympathise with you predicament. I think it would be pretty shitty if they expected you to resit your learners again. Just had a look at mine and I have a couple of years to go. I remember when the last type of licience came out. They said very boldly that they would never expire! Wankers

If they make you sit it go and see your MP. Just say you thought this 'too' was a lifetime licence. He wants your vote more than your money.

I don't know if the MP I voted for even has a licence.
Mike Ward (Greens) rides everywhere on his cool 3-wheeler pushie and has done the Coast to Coast every time since it's inception except last year I think.

    Bugger bugger bugger...
I need my licence for work.
I wonder how long it'll take.
Assuming I can past it of course

Well you can take them to court but only if you have plenty of dosh. Most New Zealanders do not use ther MP's to there advantage. You pay enough in tax so why not make use of them on the odd occasion. They are after all your representitive and a vist costs nothing but a little time.

When your licence has been expired for over a year it becomes a "requalify" status. You have to re-sit the tests.

When the photo licences came out it was well advertised that they were to be renewable, no longer a lifetime licence like the stupid piece of paper we had before hand.

Looks like the original photo one was for 5 years and the new ones are for 10?

The problem with "well advertised" is that I don't get the paper, listen to the radio or watch TV.

    Oh well...
