I shifted 3 times in the next 2 years...

Oh well, I'll find out today

That'll be why. They do send reminders, i got a reminder in december that my licence would expire in january, it took me 15 mins and $40 to renew. I think $40 is hardly bank-breaking revenue collecting for a 10 year licence. I know that i look a lot different than i did 10 years ago, a good reason for updating photos me thinks.

When I booked for my full test a couple of weeks ago, the guy at the AA helpfully pointed out that my licence will expire at the end of this year. He said I can renew it any time in the year before it expires (ie now).

I suggested that since I was getting a new licence after passing the test, I could renew at the same time and they could do it all at once, but no, that would mean them missing out on their $40 (or whatever). I have to get this licence, then get another one. Oh, and if I change my name after getting married next week, I have to get another one.

Sorry but sueing the Govt would be a civil court matter, not something cops would deal with and I can't really give a 100% answer. Better to ask a lawyer.

I wouldn't think taking on the Govt legaly would be a good idea unless you had Bill Gates backing you financialy though.

The exceptions to the gae protocol were those who were within a year of their x5th birthday when the new license was put upon them - after much protesting they got a license for up to 11 years.
Bollocks....lol. I had to pay for one year and then when that year ran out I had to pay the next ten years... which is why I felt that I was totally ripped off by the system.......

shouldn't the license you recieve stand for ten years!!! therefore negating the fact that it would of ran out in december?

mate you wont have to do it yearly....
You pay out "X" amount which will take you throu til you turn 25.
So that will be 3 years worth of license.

Then on your 25th birthday go in and renew for the next 10 years till ya turn 35.

I always do it on my birthday, so that I never forget...

Well I went in to the AA and as I have such a nice smile I walked out 10 min later $44.30 lighter of pocket and have my full licence back

I havn't (officially) been a naughty boy for many years so they let me off

I think I'll celebrate by pulling a few wheelies and stoppies outside the local Girls College.

Oh that's right, I have this total inability to stoppie/wheelie that could prove embarrassing :eyepoke:
