    Eye protection

As I haven't been in NZ for a few years, and I arrive in a few days, are there any regulations about using eye protection when riding in NZ?
in UK, if you use protection it is supposed to be to British Standard (just like condoms - and the Titanic!)
    any advice welcome

No there isn't, but at speeds over 60k/hr you would be well advised to wear some. In fact, you will find riding at open-road speeds to be quite infeasible without some type of eye protection, and a hours' trip in the countryside without a full visor will be something you will not want to repeat.

In and around the towns at or under 50km/hr speeds, it is quite normal and desireable to crack, half, or even fully open your visor for whatever reason you choose., and the police will have no interest in you doing this. I like the fresh breeze over my face etc.

    Do enjoy your trip.

Never heard about such a law, but it would be stupid not to have anything over your eyes. NZ roads are full of dirt and gravel. Never know whats going to be flicked into your face.

    Thanks for the comments, Folks.
I have been riding around UK & Europe for the past few years in an open face hat with sun/safety glasses (and a windscreen) - don't particularly like full face hats when I am riding through choice, though I will use one when racing or riding in severe weather.

Interestingly the only thing a motorcyclist MUST wear in the Great State of South Dakota is eye protection.

If you are riding your bike in the line of your empolyment you would have to take all resonable means to reduce injury to yourself under ACC law
