    Bike cameras?

Could I get some advice on what sort of basic (read cheap) camera and mounting set-up to put on my bike to record a track-day or two?

Ideally, I'd like something I can mount looking over the instruments, and also down low on a side.

I guess the issue of vibration suppression is my greatest concern. Any or all advice welcome.

I will tell ya what the 10 I have coming this week are like, only about 90mm long and once I have used them myself, but believe they are going to be brilliant, with a HUGE memory and retail @ $285-00

Heya. Looks good. How are they mounted and how does the mount deal with vibration? What price are you after? Or is the price you quote, 'the' price?

But, if you say they will be brilliant, that's good enough for me. Put my name down on one, please.

For a good shot of the instruments, get a mount like this:
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-185245633.htm

I'm currently using one for non-track stuff, very stable. You might need to confirm with the track organisers if they allow this type of mount because they can be hazardous during a crash.

You can get digital video cameras off TM for as little as $60, but they suck and malfunction from time to time. You get what you pay for I guess

My guess is look for a mount that attaches via suction cup. Like those "Baby on board" plates drivers put in their windows, but obviously stronger and more quality. I can't imagine there are any vibration issues and it must be cheap as well. As for cameras I've seen people with normal smallish handy-cams mounted so as long as its not too heavy and extruding i can't imagine anyone would have trouble with those.

I use one of these its not too bad. Sound quality isnt flash but I am working on reducing the wind noise.
Got mine at Noel Leemings for under $200 and got a 2 gig card so plenty of footage time
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

What about this? Suction cup is rock solid even at track speeds; vidcam sucks!

Followed your advice and went to Leemings in Lincoln Rd, Henderson. I told the tall guy with glasses that the Oregon site was offering a 2gig card for just 10-bucks with every purchase. Leemings ask $70 for the same card. Stuck it to the guy and got the cam for $199 and the card for $10. Good deal. So, if you're of a mind to score a cam and a cheap 2 gig card, go to that store and find the tall dude with glasses.

Turns out the cam is waterproof to 3M and comes with a range of fittings and sticky things to attach it to helmets, fairings, you name it.

Found several creative ways to attach the cam to das velocipede then went for a spin. BLOODY GOOD! Now just have to get the proper angles to see the road ahead and the instruments at the same time.

And it's plug and play into a pc, and direct into a tele.

    Good advice, Mad. Thanx. :--))

Hey man, I don't think you have to do put a lot of money into it at all if you really want something basic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAxbIQrEGHg I strapped my cell phone to the windscreen to test what kind of results i could get... the phone is 180 bucks.. if you got something for 250 you could get a WAY better camera quality.

All I needed to do was to make some muffling material to put onto the microphone and that wind noise went away and you could hear the engine...

the real advantage though is that it's a good shpe for mounting anywhere you like..

    Did the trick...

These are the easiest cam to use and waterproof with good sound and great picture! cheap!

I loaded up a lap of puke when i was running in my bike, i made the video really low quality so it would load up onto youtube fast but you get the idea and my copy is crystal clear with great sound. If you want one pm me $250 new
