    Training.

    Hi,

My wife and I have decided that we would like to get our bike licenses in the new year and It seems that we have to do a basic skills test to start off the process.

We both have very limited experience and so training may be the way to go. I'd just like to know peoples opinions and if anyone has been on one of these training courses in the Wellington area maybe someone could recommend a company to do this through?

    Cheers.

Hey, hubby and I just got our learners in July so we're a step ahead of you but only just. Definitely go on a course. The one we did in Auckland was all morning long with the basic skills test at the end. Well worth it. I only wish I'd done more research into my gear before buying and spent more time on this site too. there's a bunch load to learn.

    Good luck

hey, just wanted to second the recommendation for the roadsafe course. When I did mine out in Petone they ran a full day thing, with a few hours in the morning for absolute never-been-onna-bike-before beginners (on little bikes, starting with total basic stuff - this is the throttle, here's the clutch etc.) and then the Basic Handling Skills in the afternoon. Then off to do a (slightly) motorcycle-flavour road code scratchy test, and you're legal enough to go and test ride some bikes!

have fun anyway, remember to ask about stuff if you're not sure - there's bound to be someone around who can provide some advice, abuse or maybe even both all at the same time if you're really lucky :/

What she says (with less smileys).

I did the whole day thing with the small test at the end. Couldn't believe at the end that I was allowed to own and even ride a 250cc on my own (had to pass the theoretical, though.

    Good luck, riding is fun

What's the bike that finally convinced you?

    Highly overrated them clothes !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Not a bike, just seeing all the dudes and dudettes having fun on 2 wheels and not having to pedal. And it's been something we have been meaning to do for a long time, just never had the resources or freedom to do.
