20 years ago I would agree with you, exceptional Bikes and so much better than what they were based on, I don't think anyone would argue that the SB6 wasn't far superior in everyway to the GSX1100. However I would seriously doubt that the DB7 is significantly better the 1098S in anyway.

1098 S 33k NZ, the only price I could find for the Bimota was $50K aussie. And lets face it if you go home with 1098 your hardly leaving with Bimota's ugly mate are you.

And I do like Bimota's and a Supermono sat in the garage alongside the Guzzi and a Laverda would be nice. I just feel that their selling point of putting a great engine into a frame and set-up to fully exploit its potential disappeared a longtime ago.

Probably wouldn't be hard to find a bike that at face value does everything the Guzzi does for less money, but you brought one anyway.

Can't argue with that, Guzzi was Heart rather than head buy. Personally I really hope that Bimota do well, but on recent history I would guess they may struggle especially in the current economic climate.

I guess if you're pretty flush, then paying another 17 or 20k for a DB7 is worthwhile just to be different from your 1098 toting mates Personally I'd buy it over a 1098 just on looks alone... it's a look pretty much on it's own, where as the other looks like a bad attempt at reliving the glory days of the 916 (I hate the wheels on the 1098 soo much... flower petals? Come on people WTF?!)

If you want an affordable hub-steering bike, it looks like there is a nice Yamaha GTS1000 on trademe.
