no consolation or help but...
theres no dirt bikes being stolen down here......... and about 1% of people own dirt bikes here too not including farm bikes
Will this be enough? I still havn't got insurance and was contemplating a simillar solution... If the bastards have the time to break in in broad daylight as with the case of 1vanvan1... How hard will breaking the padlock and chain be?
Then again insurance companies are thieves too...![]()

Whether you think you can or cant - you will always be right.
Sorry to hear about your bike, will keep an eye out for it.Thanks for the head up about bikes going missing in our area, might have to dust off the disc lock.
I say this everytime i read one of these threads but i feel for oyu mate. Bad Bad news indeed.
Keep an eye out on trademe, they may try to resell it on there.
Sorry to hear, we're having the inorganic collection in our area too, and I have to say we're getting dodgy looking people slowly casing our streets as well.
My content insurance only covers for bike parts and the parts can't be attached to the frame, so unless I completely strip down the bike after the weekends it's gonna be a big padlock and a motion activated web cam. Fortunately my bikes aren't that expensive to stress over.
What happens to the stolen bikes anyway? Are they stripped down and sold as parts? Left at cuzzies farm?
Sux to hear about all these stolen bikes !!!AMI do bike insurance as well, costs me about $6.00 a month for mine, covers theft from garage etc, just doesn't cover theft if its sitting on a trailer or ute somewhere. Even though we don't seem to have the bike theft problem down here in the lower North, I still keep mine in a locked garage with a big ass steel cable and padlock on it.
6 bucks a month!! Shiit...I should find out about that...Does it cover anything else!? Natural disaster damage? just wondering...
Theres no real chance of it getting stolen of a trailer really...Unless there are guys hovering around looking to nick bikes of a trail... Like at thunder a wee while ago... Guys in a ute, walking around the far end keeping an eye out for bikes that cant be pulled out and the rider goes back to call for the quad! Bastards!!![]()

sounds pretty good. One thing I'm not clear about is if there is damage caused by accident when bikes in transit between house and bike track. Is this covered with your vehicle policy because trailer (or bike on ute) is attached to car?AMI do bike insurance as well, costs me about $6.00 a month for mine,
yea mate ...only way to way is to have a heavy ass chain...bolted to concert floor...even if you reckon your home is safe...cause it aren't really when you read about the amount of thiefs....only going to get worse as more look for a cheaper opotion for cash...
.xjr...
.."What's with all the lights"..officer..
yeah mate $6 bucks, but my bike is probably not worth as much as yours.
I'll have to check the finer details on the insurance paperwork, but from what I can remember, it covers theft, fire and more than likely natural disasters when stored in the garage. I think it is covered in transit as well.
