AMI will insure a dirt bike only if you get all your insurance with AMI. I was quoted $80 a year to cover mine for 7k. and that included if it fell of the trailer in transit or stolen off the trailer in transit, but not anything once you are at the track.

OK, AMI cover all theft, fire and natural disaster if it gets nicked from your home, it covers when in transit, so even if it fell off the back of the trailer its covered, or if some dumbarse runs into ya. The reason mine is not covered for theft off a trailer is that I don't need a key to start it, so may be different if you need a key. But as Cheese said, once you are riding it then you are on your own.

insurance companies never seem to tell the same story twice, one minute for one person something is covered, next minute for the next person the same thing isnt.

    odd

Sounds a bit odd mate, i checked with them ( AMI ) today about the details of my policy, and its definitely covered, by home i don't mean its covered under home contents insurance if thats what they mean, its a special insurance for dirtbikes.

    Thanks for your email,

We do not generally cover trail bikes.

Damn that sux 1vanvan1 , shit theres heaps of them being taken.

I rang AMI the other day, I have contents with them, they said would only cover my bike for fire not theft cause it doesn't have a key ignition. Screw that!

    Will check out NAC

I am not going to comment much on insurance online, however mine was covered but it was not straight forward. I strongly recommend everyone to confirm their insurance coverage. Particularly if you live in East Auckland.
