ATGATT, 2 arms, 2 legs, happy story (except now you'll have to put up with all the insurance company bullshit...).
It’s diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; it’s life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.

Nah I don't drink there but I tell you what with so many of us in Upper Hutt we should hit Bull up to host one of his famous LAN parties but just for Kiwibikers this time...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Nah wasnt under the bike - the initial impact made the bike and me both parted ways and the bike slid ahead of me down the hill.

And Timberlea is probally as safe as most areas so long as you are a local here, been here 20yrs as a local now.

I think maybe a Upper Hutt KB get together may be a goer - maybe then we can be elite like the Norf Welly Massif.

    Blimey mate, that sucks.

Everything is replaceable / repairable and you are ok, suppose that's the main thing.

Reiterates all the great KB advice about cold tyres etc.

Keep your chin up dude, and well done on the great post showing us all the things to look for after the event...major respect.

    Easy now my man

    I KNOW that sucks .....

As long as your ok mate ..... bikes can be fixed or replaced !

I binned mine today as well. No excuse for me ..... going to quickly through a corner which was off camber and down hill and tightening. I didn't know the road well enough .... left the road into a ditch.
Bike has a ding in the tank, smashed screen, scratched and dented muffler, scratched rear cowling (plastic bit below pillion seat), everything else ok.

Me .... well my helmet's stuffed, my riding gear looked after me, except I have a munted right thumb, very sore balls, and a little bit of bruising. I went unconscious momentarily, but everything was ok ... just a bit of shock, and the wind knocked out of me.
My step son was following on his bike and saw it happening. He thought I was going to be very munted ... but today I was lucky!
We got my bike out of the ditch .... and rode home.
It was a timely reminder about pushing a bit too hard, especially on an unfamiliar road.
But .... I / We are lucky. Three guys have died doing what they loved. We only got a bit of a scrape and a wake up!

Deepest sympathy to the partners, family, and friends of the three bikers who have died yesterday and today.

Sounds like a nasty crash. Losing consciousness makes it pretty serious. Glad to hear you're not worse off!

Downhill, off camber and tightening is the worst combo on a corner huh?

Thanks mate. Yes I have been over this road in the other direction - twice, but it caught me out coming the other way. Yes bad combination of difficult aspects for a corner !! A learning thing for me. Mind you, my bod's a bit sore today, but I'm fine.

And yes ..... my gear saved me . . . no doubt about it.
    Cheers,
    Grant.

PS. Hope your doing ok today Bull !! Get some Oggies mate. I think they helped my bike get off without too much damage ... but mine is a naked ... so less to scrape.

Im all good - Insurance sending assessor to suss the bike and the home and contents will give me some pingas for some replacement gear. Bugger that i cant ride it till the insurer has sussed tho so looks like im gonna have to drive to work again.
