Didn't see any bikes there, but the honorable mention of LB counting toilet goers was cool!

Just seen that on the 6 o'clock news. Its a real shame how short sighted some coucils can be.
They reckon no-one stopped but that bike club lady noted something like 669 cars in one weekend.
I'm in Auckland but of there is an on line petition then I'm in.
These things really do get right up my hooter, f*****g councils!

Short sighted? It costs the GWRC in excess of $20k a year to keep that thing open. There's no water and no power to the site, and the place runs at a loss. Why should my rates pay for someone else's failed business? We prop up enough useless stuff as it is. I've spent about $4.50 there in the last 15 years. The thing most likely to give you food poisoning in NZ is a cold pie. That place specialises in them

They put a windmill in to provide electricity and it was re-possessed. They were asked to clean the toilets and refused. They've been asked to provide a business plan that demonstrates they can start making money and at least pay something toward site upkeep but can't. The GWRC isn't a charity for quaint and unpleasant country cafes. The car park will still be there, so people will have somewhere to throw up and make babies, same as always.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Fair comment, you can see I'm not a local and dont know the history etc etc.

Once again a possible victim of sensational journalism, well done TVNZ. But let's face it, some councils can make the blood boil.

Do poeple throw up while they are making babies or afterwards...?

Why single out that enterprise? most other public service enterprises return not a penny.

    Oh, and custard squares FTW.
