Don't worry TOTO, the bashing of mr pumpkin begins first! zeocen was the one texting me to get my arse into gear and front the ride tonight. So I duly do only to find out the instigator is hors de combat!

It was funny to see the perplexed looks when I announced we were to leave our steeds of intrepid journeys on the starting blocks and walk ... yeup ... walk to the next location!

Off to a local Japanese food place where much takoyaki was scoffed. My poor girl had to wait for ages for her eel don!

Ride out to One Tree Hill and then back to Blush for the usual milk tea and slushy goodness.

TOTO was on fine form and managed to demolish half the place - Gremlin surprising us for actually fixing something!

Glad to ride with everyone, weather was minters, food was great - pity gremlin showed up!

If you're taking jabs at me now, you're gonna love this one.

So I was riding home from work today and just heading past the Manukau offramp and my bike suddenly dies. Okay, strange. I try to start it while rolling, nada. I hover over to in between the Manukau onramp and the motorway and am like, well this is pretty whack.

Suddenly a bike passes me and sees me, he stops. That bike... that bike. THAT BIKE?

It is my previous bike, my old Hornet 900 and it's new owner. Of all people to see my VFR break down for the first time, it's the guy who has my old bike. Looking at my new bike, that is dead.

But, you've just gotta laugh. That is one hell of a coincidence!
We (well, he) had a bit of a squiz around to see anything out of the ordinary, rang Botany Honda, did some diagnostics, arranged for a tow. Proud hornet basta....owner left knowing I'm in safe hands of a tow truck.

Time past and I decided to see if it'll start up and magically it did! What the hell! So I sheepishly road it home and will be taking it to Botany Honda tomorrow for some serious diagnosing. It's not the first problem I've had with this bike, but it's the first one that's rendered it useless and I'm pretty well not happy about it - it's not a nice feeling to get rid of a brilliant bike and feel like you've downgraded to one that has constant problems.

So go ahead, nudge me in the ribs and tell me how Hornets are better.

On the plus side, I did record it.

So, fair to say that the VFR can't handle the heat?

Glad to hear you could get back home safely.

It's been much hotter than that as Gale Wolf can attest to!
Guess we'll find out tomorrow what is the root of the problem, I know some VTEC VFR800s have had wiring recalls on them so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the cause.

Godamn that Hornet sounds nice though, the one thing I miss - a sweet IL4 sound.

Yeah, I noticed zeocen's VFR sitting on 106 degrees while we were waiting at a red light last week. And only 10 minutes or so earlier I'd just finished telling him how my gixxer heated up really quickly...

Hey is the old Hornet a red one? I was filtering my way through the southern motorway crawl/carpark, just before Market Rd, maybe 5.15pm, when a red Hornet zapped past ducking in and out of traffic. But he was using his indicators like a good chap. I think I was holding him up

Also, I owe someone $7.50 (I think) for last night's slushy. Toto or Gremlin?

My old man said to me, "I'm going to Experience on Saturday to pick up something for my ZX14 if you want to come and see what real bikes are like." And then stated I needed a 2010 z1000 - as if I need someone to say that right now!

That's where we had a fateful meeting so most probably, yes! Did it sound like the best sounding Hornet ever? If so, that is it. :P

I watched your vid, and subscribed to your channel , saw the "best sounding Hornet ever." Don't think it was the same one though. Couldn't really hear the Hornet over the sweet purr of my gixxer's Micron.

Something I've noticed is that I seem to be seeing Hornets everywhere now. Maybe I'm just more aware of them since doing a few short rides with some of this friendly mob!

Well zeocen, we all know you always go against the usual good advice and you are your own man, marching to the beat of a different drum.

Sorry to hear about the niggles you having with the viffer ... somehow, I can't help but think how the biking gods have punished you for your actions on Monday!

Next time, just turn up for the ride when you are the one angling for it in the beginning!

    Oh yeah, Hornets FTW!

That does sound like me, is your Gixxer blue with a diamond shaped integrated brake + indicator box on the back? If so, yeah, I remember you.

Nup, not me. But there was a blue gixxer at the same time, the guy got on the southern ahead of me at Khyber Pass and I was trailing him from just after Market Rd down to Ellerslie.
