Oh yes, Daisy and lil'ol'hornet and Natalie were all out on a little pootle to Pukekohe to Mr Motorcycles sale, Angel got herself some cheep cheep glubs, I drooled and laid ownership on the Kawasaki that is on raffle (its mine, mine! My prreeeeciiouuussss), zeocen rode over as well since he clean forgot until I reminded him by text.

Suffice to say before all this could happen, I decided to take Daisy, the mistress of RZ250 goodness. X-Whatsit and I were trying to start Daisy up and took out the plugs etc. Turns out it was bone dry of the go-gas! Pinched some of the lawnmower supply and wahay! Started first kick. Clouds of smoke, the ring-a-ding-ding and the piquant aroma that was emanating from her pipes. Also on the way back from Puke, she also decided that she had the pip with me and demanded some 2-stroke oil as well.

Daisy, the RZ250 is a demanding mistress!

All toot sweet, X-Whatsit and Angel and I went to Dorkland and sat in a late hour chinese eatery and had, spicy tofu, combination meat and steamed fish - guzzled down with chinese tea and the obligatory asian themed drinks.

Now, what to do tonight? I think I need to catch up on some maintenance on the fleet and then go for a ride!

Not to worry, what I will do next time is to do a basic loop and then discuss, then another addition to the loop etc until finally you know all those complex variations and doolallie along them all by yourself one day!

Enjoy the trip down, I would have joined you on the Big Ol'Hornet, but its well over its 18K service mark and I need to keep it down below 21K (at the moment its on 20500km! ) Figgers, I just can't help stop pootling around!

Remember to pack duct tape, cable ties, testicles, spectacles, wallet and watch ... er wait ... scratch one of those item ... but if you're a guy definitely don't scratch that particular item!

I to be shutting ups now
WAIT... I only saw one map with lots of points with no actual lines of the roads we took, and one other with the hunua roads....... wheres one of all the roads we did, N, S W and E?

Its all good, i make this trip all the time, quite happy to make it by myself, and probably leaving earlier now, so will just be making it a trip to get home, but will still ENJOY the gorge!

Have an awesome break back down home, and we'll catch you back up here for more pootling and general biker frivolity in the new year

My excited anticipation has been a little hampered by the thread warning of roadworks... but she'll still be good!
Yep im shooting through early boys (9:30) so will catch you all at another stage!
Although it is a "break" Im actually helping my brother out by working in the shop he has just bought, so will be busy, cause on the few days or half days i get off i will either be having cuddles with my nephew or riding me bike! (except saturday cause im SKYDIVING... soooooo excited... 10,000! bring on the freefall!)

    Have fun boys and girls!

Well, I've finally stopped riding today ... ... I felt like a ride, so gassed up and headed south (as you do), a lovely day so did the Coro and went out to Hot Water Beach, roadworks saw sticky bitumen gravel attaching themselves to the Big Ol'Hornet

Then I pootled around the rest of the Coro, only saw 1 other biker coming up the twisties from Coromandel town and then a dozen or so from Thames onwards.

Stopped at Kevfromcoro's place, but no-one home so tootled off and came back via Miranda-Kaiaua. TOTO texts me and it seems he's in the local area so we tee up and do the goat tracks for the SATNR (South Auckland Thursday Night Ride). Once we done the Ardmore Quarry rd/Hunua/Twilight Road/Ridge Rd circuit and back to Clevedon, saw the lads from the real SATNR parked up! Took a loud booming voice to get us to pull around ... and a bit of a yak and the usual kibbitizing ensued.

Anyway TOTO took point and we tootled off ...

Headed down Maraetai-Whitford way to Botany and we catch the Xmas themed house and then we split up to make our merry way home (which I did via Whitford )

hmmm now my Big Ol'Hornet is now 3000km overdue on its 18000km service I had booked it in for next Wednesday and it was shy of 18000km last week ...

Hmmm I feel like a ride tomorrow! Wait ... You evil hussy you! You know how easy it is for me to just find any excuse for a ride!

Pity you heading out early (understandable), I was thinking of heading out that neck of the woods way!

    Wait ... I detect ... gravel ... and wait ... yes ... more gravel!

You do realise you actually have to stop riding it for them to service it aye?

I thought I was mega naughty when 1000km over the interval, and I had been waiting for parts to arrive before putting it in. Best of all, now both bikes are probably going to be due for a service around Christmas... drat

Why can I see the bike on the hoist, with GiJoe still sitting on it all geared up, saying "faster!!! I'm about to be lapped"???

Don't encourage him, and I don't think John (head mech) would be impressed.

Besides he'll probably take the loaner to see Cape Reinga or something (or go home to get another bike), miss the call the bike is ready, and miss more riding time on it.

And I thought I was bad at the "call me asap the bike is ready" and then there within 30 min

When I booked it was on on 17500km ... somehow in the time for next Wednesday for service, it is now on 21000km

As it is, I am now riding lil'ol'hornet ... yesterday I rode to Toe-Ranges where DMNTD and I chin-wagged for a while before he threw me bodily onto a Triumph Speed Triple to test ride.

Suffice to say, I want one.

Then merrily I made my meandering way down Pyes Pa Road after dropping the Triple back to Dumpty and met up with Angel at Rotovegas (any excuse for a ride! )

Had din-dins there with her and then I rode back up to Dorklands, I dunno what those guys were doing in Cambridge but when I rode through the 5-0 were out in force. Breath tested and even had to take me lid off! He said something about "lots of pissed bikers about".

Quick blat home and ta bed, ready for Westpac Toy Run today!

Riding. I loves it I does.

Hmmm I think lil'ol'hornet might need an oil change again soon! And Daisy needs some new sprockets and chain

Riding with rwh on the twisties

Well, yesterday rwh was up from Wellington (Hurricanes!) and txted me for a meet and greet and ride. Any excuse for a ride? You bet your sweet bippy!

Meet at the McChuck stop at Greenlane, exchange pleasantries and we do a quick ride down the moronway to Takanini BP. I nip home for a quick exchange of gear bags and off to Kaiaua we pootle.

Damn nice it was. rwh rides the twisties well and we are tucking into a feed of fush n'chups! Funny thing was we ended up with a double order of rwh's and no sign of my mushroom toasted sammie!

Anyhow, it does turn up! So all is good. rwh took point back, funny thing is I was going to get him to do it anyway! We had a good chat before hand, talked of bikes and crazy things.

We get back to Clevedon and then I take him back to the moronway via Maraetai-Whitford and then zip along the back of Botany. Somehow rwh forgot the fact if people ride with me, they end up pootling to parts unknown! I did tell him it was only 150km or so and I promised not to end up in Dargaville or Cape Reinga or any such place like that!

I was riding Daisy ... and the only way this counts as a Hornet post was because I saw a Hornet riding along on our travels!

An yes, Daisy was trying to kill me. No engine braking to speak of, always wanting to go faster into corners and the powerband wanting to spit me off!

Two-strokers. That's why we loves them so!

When I got back in, the lil'ol'hornet and the Big Ol'Hornet had big grins on their faces as they finally got a chance not to be ridden for one day and have a kip in!

rwh, I'd ride with you again anytime, good riding mate!
