    Number plate ripped off

Rode my bike up to the boat show near Whangarei last Sunday. Some bugger ripped off part of my number plate. Rode it back OK but I had to get a new number, and the rego sticker etc., ... and now I have to inform my insurance of the new number. What a hassle, and I liked the old number - new one sucks. If I had known, I would just have made myself a new number plate. But I wouldn't be surprised if that is not allowed as the govt wouldn't get its $8.

Eh? You have to get a new number? Can't you just get another plate made up with the same numbers?

    Nope.
Not unless it's a personalised plate.
Sometimes that's a good thing though. I "lost" the plate on one of my bikes, just to get one that was a better shape (old ones were HUGE).
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

It's the same reason you get a new number for your eftpos card when you lose one.
