Can anyone point me to this thread please![]()

Sorry, don't know about the post....

You can apply for a full licence after 18 months on your restricted licence if you are under 25 years old, or after six months on your restricted licence if you are 25 or older.
If you successfully complete an approved course, the length of time you must hold your restricted licence for will be reduced to 12 months for those aged under 25 years, and three months for those 25 or older. You must present the course certificate to the driver licensing agent when you book the practical test.
If you're under 25, you can only complete an approved course after you've had your restricted licence for at least six months
Supersize Me
Thanks mate but its slightly different, there is a process whereby you can skip the 3 or 6 months all together, provided you have a good reason
ah well i guess i will just have to wait till the 14th of jan sigh!

If i were you Koz i would book it now or at least see how full the all the testing places schedules are..
I tried to get mine sorted today as i'm eligible on the 27th of November for my full. The closest day they could get was the 16th of December through AA Barton St (AA 5 X roads the test).. Tomorrow i'm going to give them a call and see if i can get that transfered to an outlying AA Branch sooner..
My big beef is i am not eledgible till 22nd of december so first booking is the 14th of january
Will book it tonight anyways.

Who's that through ? AA ? ... try around .. i hear some of the waiting lists are shorter than others
Yeah best i could get was 12th in whangamata... its tempting, mum lives in whanga so i would have a coffee and a beer afterwardsbut its probably easier for the 14th.

If it's that bad down here i might try Auckland.. i learn't how to drive a car in that friday afternoon traffic..
i also noticed i passed restricted test 2 weeks earlier than what my licence issue date is on my licence.. i don't know if you can get around that though
As mrchips mentioned above - the only way to reduce the waiting time is by sitting an advanced riding skills course.
If you're under 25, completing the course reduces the time you have to wait on the restricted license from 18 months to 12 months.
If you're over 25, completing the course reduces the time you have to wait on the restricted license from 6 months to 3 months.
I know that passrite offer an advanced riding skills course, but I don't know anybody who has done it.

I think I remember a thread about a guy getting his full early.Although he held several licences already( all clean) and worked night shift so had to ride after hours on the m/way.
Any one can apply for a deduction on the time they need to wait(with the appropriate fee of course) and LTSA will think about it.
You can apply for exemption in terms of restricted hours, CC, or pillion exemption. Each case is taken as is and individually, you've just gotta explain exactly why you MUST have an exemption.
Yeah I think it's "Tank" who outlined clearly his way of going about it, there is a thread about, use the search function and you should be able to find it.
And yes once you have an exemption they sometimes let you sit your full test early anyway, as I said, depending on case by case.
Costs like 20 bucks to apply, good luck!
Oh, and yeah just gotta head to your local licensing agent and ask for the motorcycle exemption form and voila. Fill it out, it'll be sent to Palmy, they'll give ya a call sometime and let you know what's up, or just send you a letter back saying yay or nay.
