Christini all wheel drive review

Well here goes! I got the chance to take a Christini AWD CRF250X for a blast today at the Paeroa Charity Trail Ride.

First impressions of the bike is that i didnt even realise it was an AWD bike as its a really nice tidy kit I figured it just had trick triple clamps and a fancy speedo system but when i looked at the other side and saw the chain cover that was the giveaway!

First ride, my first impressions of the bike were just that, of the bike as i couldnt even notice the AWD system, it rode just like your standard CRF250X and that was about the only complaint I had is was that compared to my Kawasaki 450 that im used to the 250f was a bit underpowered

I first noticed the AWD system when i came to the first up hill, it wasnt a nasty uphill that i would have struggled on a normal bike but the fact that the front wheel was pulling me up made it so much easier on my body and because of that i was able to ride all day even though im certainly not mx race fit! Next thing i noticed was when i came to a bottle neck of riders struggling with a section, i was able to swap from rut to rut as the front wheel would drive out if i wanted it to rather then slid along the edge, this was also a huge advantage on the creek crossings i could just take a different line out and mission up a greasy bank standing on the pegs without hesitation.
Another strong point was on really tight corners where id usually have to try turn the bike with the back wheel your could just turn the front in the direction you wanted to go and away it went! I found the front end to be firmly planted, because the front was driving forward it was making it hook up rather then being pushed!
There wasnt any real challenging hill climbs or mud holes but if there were I can tell that this is where it would definetly come into its own!

I really cant say enough good things about the system, the bike felt nimble and stable and made any difficult section a breeze! Id be happy to race mx with a bike with this system on however unless it was a muddy or really sandy track it probably wouldnt really give you to much benefit however it certainly wouldnt be a hinderence. If your serious about Enduros, cross country or trail rides then this is certainly a trick bit of kit worth your consideration!

Its all true I telz ya!-

I watched him all day. lap after lap he came in, smiling quietly, had a drink and took off for another go. each lap he came in looking fresh and composed. Choppa did a couple of laps with his MX mates on the same year and model standard bikes and came back lookining unflustered while those on the conventional bikes were ragged!

If ya want it to... Just like a normal bike. On that subject though on long uphills you dont have to battle to keep the front down it seems to just hold on and pull you up its hard to explain....

Great review Choppa- sadly I missed the Paeroa Trail Ride today,but I did have a ride on the Christini a few weeks ago. I really liked it-on the hillclimbs and especially on corners - pin it and it goes where you point that front wheel, where a rear wheeler would maybe oversteer these things feel very predictable.Seems like they've got that rear/front power ratio bang on i'd say.
