All Street/Speed Triple/Four Riders

They are cool , thats why i have two of them. Incidentlly the first service on my 675 cost $200, the 10000kms service on my 955 cost $ 246, pretty good i thought.

You gotta be a decent job to get one then eh? Ooh is that why all Streeple riders have Shoei/ Arai/ Dainese/ Alpinestars/ Sidi/ etc branded gears? Meh no matter, they are still cool

Don't need a decent job... just be prepared to make sacrifices for what you enjoy.... but a decent paying job would help I guess

P.S. And I do have a shoei helmet becuase it fit me, most of the rest of my gears are Quasi stuff which is good quality but not at the top end of the price scale.

Just thinking, have had 5 Triumphs now, including 1 from new.
Have had no problems on any of them, even on the supposedly problematic TT600 model.
Being a mechanic I service and do all the work on my own bikes except tyre fitting, so the cost over the years has been parts only, and at that, only oils/filter etc.

I also have a Ducati, and have found that no big deal in servicing costs either.

But I can see how costs can be pricey for those unable or wanting to do their own work etc.
But from what I've seen and heard Triumphs are no more expensive than Jap stuff to service.
Guess its a case of what you want done and how much a shop charges, and we know that can vary from shop to shop.

Servicing costs are no more than you average multi. Possibly cheaper in the warranty period depending on the brand - lots of the Suzukis are at 6k intervals.
The Honda shop will tell you 6k servicing BUT the Honda owners book states oil & filters at 12k. I was told that strictly speaking 12 is the warranty requirement but its good to do a oil change half way between (every 6).
Personally I'd do the same with any bike stating a 10k service interval - give it some fresh blood every 5.

Yep. Service costs are very reasonable. My 10k was $210 and the 20k was $475. Mechanically it hasn't missed a beat.

They look cool from any angle. I had a late blat over the Rimutaka Hill tonight. What a rewarding bike. Got home. Rushed inside and poured myself a Jim Beam black and walked out onto my balcony to suck in the beaut sunset to end a beaut ride. What do I notice below. Even from above the Triumph looks ... COOL.

I fitted dinky front indicators today. They look...wait for it....cool.
What a breeze to work on. Panels, screws, bolts, whatever. They come off easy and actually go back into place without a fight!

Mate, the 675 seems like more than enough for me. I certainly don't have the balls to tame all 1050cc's just yet.

I don't think the 1050 motor has much over the 675 at all. The few more hp are lost with the extra weight - I'm comparing my ride on a Tiger to my Daytona. But a Street against a Speed triple would be the fair test.
I'd like to see some side by side roll on tests. Personally the 675 is a far better donk for both low end response, mid range and it's way ahead when it comes to top end rush.

While I haven't ridden the speed triple, I have ridden both the latest Sprint and Tiger, so have had experience with the 1050 engine. While it's certainly sweet, i'd be hard pressed to pick that engine over the 675 as well. It really is a sweet engine, in the Street triple in particular when you take into account the gear ratios that they've matched it with it really is a hoot.

If Triumph had got things around the right way and brought the Street R out first i'd probably be riding one.
I love the street triple, but I'd be asking too much of the suspension and brakes these days, which is where my KTM had the edge.
I would certainly consider the R though...

I had a wee pootle on a Street Triple yesterday.......

I can't really see myself owning one, as I prefer being a bit more lent forward.

But damn, did that little thing have some torque! It was so small and so light, but the power was just awesome....it was just so snappy! Give it a bit of throttle in first and before you know it the front wheel is up!
