I said. ''We aint got one to do bikes" they said. "we do all bike with only side stands like this". You might get away with it on a lightweight bike but not a fuckin lardy Harley with just for looks prop stand. Well you not doing mine thank you very much (or words to that effect), got my money back and learnt never to go to cage orientated places ever again.

I ave found bike shops to be much much much stricter than on road, vtnz or any of the dodgey outfits.

I've got a very friendly warrant guy, the "Hole in the Wall" man, I call him.

I rock on up, we talk shit for 10 minutes, politics, "Crap on TV I have seen lately", "Yoof of today", "when I was a boy", etc, he checks my bike/cage over thoroughly, then I'm gone. It's not a bad experience because I have confidence in his decisions.

I take three cages and three bikes up to him. He doesn't sweat the small stuff but will fail me on safety issues like ball joints in the suspension. So good on him. He says stuff like "get that fixed before you come back again" No pressure, just common sense.

You just need to find someone who is friendly and on-side.

Mac can't issue warrants. they take the bikes to Bob at Cannon Point Motors. (That was the case about 6 weeks ago, anyway)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Are we talking stone chip... if so What was his reason it failed... that being the case he better be failing 99% of the vehicles on the road...

there must be more to it... ie was it a chip in the headlamp...? (thats why I have head lamp guard) but if that is all I would have refused to paid for that check...

hehe....stop beating about the bush nico. Why don't you say what you really mean!!

Took the CB to Upper Hutt VTNZ yesterday. No problem at all. Tester was Ken who, being a biker, was easy to work with, very chatty, interested in my aftermarket bling and sympathetic to the last remaining 1.5mm on my rear tyre!

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

That sort of sums up what the guy I deal with told me. Words to the effect that a lot of it is attitude, yours and his. If you roll up and start telling him how to do his job you might well strike a problem. This doesn't apply to VTNZ who are a problem...

Can anyone recommend a bike shop that actually does WOFs in house in CHCH?

Just had the viffer done at VINZ yesterday, because I suddenly realised it had run out and they are just around the corner, and open late.

Talked shit with the tester while he was going over it, was polite and friendly, and it passed no probs.

I just started asking questions and distracting the guy when he got too close to some naughty bits of the bike such as the stealth "factory" exhaust, the slightly adjusted rear fender oh and what are these plugs here for mate? Oh that's for a GPS to plug into so I can tour around this lovely country...not a radar detector at all, honest.

However I would prefer a bike shop does it, especially if they are stricter on things that will keep me safer. Just need to find one!

why not just put a non laod sensative flasher in and a reflector on go back get your recheck and ride off knowing that you now have the perfect bike. The tester was well within his rights to fail ya. The reflector is there for when your tail light goes out. That way the muppett car driver has no excuse for running you over from behind.
