    Help me spend $5k

Yep after months without a scoot looks lie I've managed to wangle 5k for some wheels, not quite the 15k I was hoping but oh well better than nothing.
Ok so 5k isn't going to buy much but looking at TM has given me an idea of what I can get. So far the candidates are TRX850, FZR1000, CBR1000F, RF900 and as a wild card DR650. The FZR's are older and jap imports but full hp, the t-rex's are also jap imports, restricted to 180kph but newer, RF's are again newer but speedo's are in MPH as are the CBR's. The DR would be much newer and give me the option to go off the beaten track. Main usage at the mo would be commuting and the occasional weekend blast plus just to have a bike in the garage
The Rf900 has always had a good following on here and is prob top of the list but I've always liked the TRX, all he one's I've seen look in good nick but the restricter could put me off unless it can be undone...anyone done this? The FZR is old school but a lot of bike and power for the money, just not sure if the age and probs with self destructing fork seals would put me off. The CBR again is alot of bike for the money but issues with honda rectifiers are a big issue apparently.
So what do you reckon I should put my money on and why...

They're not very common, and the frames are (appparently) fragile. Someone on here (Riffer???) had one and broke it a few years ago.

    Nope.
R/Rs aren't just a Honda issue, and they're not a biggie. You can buy a really good R/R brand new for around $300, and with a little bit of time spent on checking out and beefing up the wiring, the problem's fixed.
It sounds like you're not biased, and have no particular preferences, so just keep looking for the best buy for your buck in terms of newness, mileage and condition. It's a buyer's market.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
