i never needed to, on my first ride i was doing 2nd/3rd gear standups.

they are very easy to ride, just fast!

Depends on how old you are. 17 probably not. 25+ probably fine.

Keep in mind you'll be signing an insurance waiver with an excess of around $5000. If you trash the bike they get a new demo and you get a $5000 bill.

Jumping straight on a thou is pretty mad. You have no idea how much more power is there. Even a 10 year old 600 will make you shit your pants the first time you open one up in first or second.

I was actually chatting to a mechanic the other day about brakes. He was discussing Triumphs but thought it could be the same thing. He was saying they have a square seal in the calipers, which deforms when the brakes are applied, as opposed to slides along the bore. The result being the piston always gets sucked back. This in turn means you always get a lot of play in the lever before you feel the pressure build.

Valid theory I thought... Don't know if the 10's have the same setup.

If that's the Speed Triple brakes, then the problem really lies with the pistons. The fix is coated pistons as found on the 675 Daytona. Pic shows the updated piston on the right and original to the left!
