How many months do you use your bike for?

Hi there Im moving over in a few months and was just wondering how many months out of the year you use your bikes for? At the moment I use my bike all year round no matter what the weather so am planning on doing the same when I move over. Thanks for any replys

In the uk i rode all the time, but as i dont have my bike here , i cant say so im not alot of help really.

with the deep snow and sub-zero temps all winter it makes it hard work, but i just put appropriate tyres and clothing on and go for it. in the summer, it's just shorts and t-shirts

If you road all year round in Ireland then you shouldn't have too much trouble here. (it depends on what part of NZ you are coming to though)

At least we don't salt the roads here like they do in the UK apparently.

Auckland and the upper north island is just fine for year round riding.

Is this a trick question? Why would one own a bike and not ride it? (Apart from those times that it's all alone in a big dark cold crate on its way to or from Los Angeles)

I ride year round in the North Island... as most do here

I think the pole is going to be misleading re the general population - KBrs are probably more dyed in the wool, but given the steep drop off in bike accidents during the winter it's only fair to assume the majority don't take it out of the shed unless it warm and not raining (much).

Mind you they still manage to find rogue bulls, dogs, a "big bird", a goat and even a kangaroo they can collide with.

There are few places in Un Zud where you can't ride all year round. A few roads in the Souf Oilund or in mountain areas or ranges are too icy at times to be safe to ride on in mid winter, and Dunedin can get pretty icy too. Although Christchurch can have snow, it's usually neither deep not long lasting. When I lived there, I tried to ride every day, and the only day the weather made it impossible was when there was black ice on the roads (found out after I set off

). Even in winter, you should be able to ride on all but a few days. None of this Mrkn/Yurpeen "park the bike up for 4 or 5 months" nonsense.
