Classic Bike Forum

Any thoughts on a Formum section for Classic Bikes?
Would give us owners of bikes with funny threads, skinny tyres, dodgy electrics somewhere to hang out.
Could be a good place to swap stories of ' back in my day' and the like.

Currently my Darmah is up on the bench following a ride accross Auckland locked in top gear, clutch got a bit sad on it...as did hand.
I'm hoping its just external selector mechanism but until I make/buy/find and clutch removal tool I won't know....being Italian I should not be expecting a cheap fix.

so its back on the R50/5 in the meantime......not the same though...to quiet.

I'd like to see a Classic Forum too. I struggle to get excited about posts for uncooperative GN250's and exploding Hyothings and questions about what I'm watching on TV (don't have one and don't want one) etc etc.

There must be many more folk here who either currently own or would seriously consider owning a classic bike. Then we could revive the stereotypical arguments and debates about leaking British bikes and slow German bikes and bad-handling Jap bikes (especially the ones with 2-stroke engine with evil powerbands) and Italian bikes with spagetti electrics....ahhh,the good ol' days.....

I suspect there could be nearly as much interest in old bikes as say.......pocket bikes and motards....whatever they are.
Might have to do some canvasing on the main board as this one is well of the beaten track.

I better put my vote in as we need numbers to make it happen.I have to admit I have no interest at all in modern motorcycles,it takes something pretty special to turn my head as I walk down to the back of the shop to the parts counter.

But are we really going to allow Honda's on the classic forum? This is all about classy bikes after all.

I'm not 'fessin up to anything.....I might have some explaining to do if someone looks in my shed.Then again that person may never leave - dead men tell no tales.....

And another thing - mustard coloured leather jackets are NOT classic! Flares and silly haircuts with paisley shirts are ok,but mustard and turquoise leather jackets didn't happen....even on RD350's.

I saw what I think was a pre war Vincent on the shore the other day...had HRD on the tank, my lasting memory is the old boy on it with an old AGV open face 'fishbowl' visor helmet and green Wellies......a mustard leather jacket would have topped it off nicely

What about retro Triumphs....do they count....? Are they for Triumph owners who are sick of spannering or need an electric leg?
My kids liked the Triumphs at Big Boys Toys...especially the orange scrambler thingy. I quite liked the RED bike stand.

HRD was the company that became Vincent after Phil Vincent took them over.

Definately not a mustard leather jacket. Tweed sportscoat, or army great coat depending on weather. Or a creosote suit maybe.
