Update on hedgier1's crash in Feb 07

What happened to the car driver that hit me was.........FARQ ALL!!!!!!
First court date he pleaded guilty to fleeing the scene and NOT GUILTY to knocking me off the bike.
Court decision....... 120hrs community service and loss of licence for 12 months. For fleeing the scene.

Next court date cancelled.

16 months after crash....... Found guilty for Drag Racing (the charge of hitting me. How the fuck do they get to change the charge after 16 months from Dangerous Driving with the intent to harm to this charge?). Loss of licence for 9 months. 120hrs Community service.


I am still on ACC and am looking forward to probably another stint in Hospital as leg is still not right. 18 months after accident.

The New Zealand Justice sytem is a crock of shit as basically he got away with it. And all he had to do was community service. He hasn't even coughed up the money for me regarding the excess for the insurance for me to get my bike fixed.

Nothing has changed in 35 years - in 1971 I was run down from behind by a drunk,I was on the front of the vehicle for nearly one km,and there were tyre marks on the road where he was swerving to try and dislodge me.After I jumped from the vehicle he bolted home and held the cops at bay with a revolver.....unfortunately they didn't shoot him.

He was fined $75 (maybe a weeks wages back then,I was earning half that.) and lost his license for 2 years.....but got a work permit so he could drive during the day.

The only good thing was that I was practically uninjured - even though I was wearing only dress boots,jeans,denim jacket,gloves and no helmet.

All the charges he's getting he sounds like a real hazard. And community service is bs. Done it myself and you might as well just let them go free. Go to your MP like forest said. If that fails maybe you have a mate of a mate who can talk this guy into paying your excess. Had some damage to my own bike and the guy doesn't seem to be motivated enough to pay for the damage either. Frustrating as fuck, huh.

Yeah, it's fucked mate. You'd get a tougher sentence if you were caught wheelying from the lights and speeding. In your spare time make a point of photographing him driving his car whilst banned. That sort of prick normally will. Obviously that'll add another 2 hours community service though.

Did the prosecution drop the charges or did his not guilty plea get accepted?

Im sorry but I dont know the story of the original "accident" from what I read here...that sucks.

Change the weapon and if he'd shot off a round, the outcome would've been different.
Its just crap the justice system doesnt backup the evidence that I gather led to the original charge?

It appears that if you want to get away with maiming or murder. Use a car.
Question it dude if your not happy, and do pick a good mp and if they dick you round start marching upwards..goodluck
