    2009 KTM 990 Adventure

Does anyone if or when we may see these new models on NZ shores? They sure look good.

Normally, KTM models arrive around April/May of the given year...

Anyone know if there are any other changes other than the colours and the decals?

For a 690 Adventure, seems like they might be here 2010 or 2011 down this part of the world. If they make one of these with a 25l tank, these bikes would be awesome for adventure riding and exploring NZ roads....

Did you also know that when the 990 was advertisied it still had the blurb in the book about a 23 litre tank. The older models had a fuel pump on the outside of the tank. The newer models had it inside from what i gather.
This actually made the tank only 18 litres approx give or take.

The advertising material was never changed, still had it as 23 litre capacity, which I guess is true, BUT, you cannot fit 23 litres in the tank....

On the ADV site there is a lot of information from 950 and 990 owners.
I had one, got rid of it in the end. Bit of a shame but I found the range pretty awful if I rode it how it was meant to be ridden. Any other kind of riding makes it one very sedate twin...

They look nice and the extra power wouldn't hurt (much) but I would rather have one with better fueling to eliminate the arm pump at low speeds, better fuel economy and a 30 litre tank. Oh, and lose the SAS crap, stock mufflers and ABS...other than that its not bad. (It's beginning to sound like a KLR)

I'm not sure i would feel an urge to replace my 06 with an 09 tho, there really isn't enough improvement to make it worthwhile.

Te Aroha, mine takes 20 litres to fill, the pump reputedly, has a volume of 1.5 litres so I have no idea where the other 1.5 litres went, wiring?

    hell yeah

Have the same engine in the supermoto, worst consumption yet is 7.5L/100km... the blurb says the tank size is good for long distances

    What a joke...lol
I rode the bike back from the dealership, nursing it on the way and went for a bit of a long way home sort of ride.
I hit reserve at 307km, I remember it because I have never had that close to it again..
Anyway, sold it moved on and went for the KTM640ADV..
My mate has a 950 and he rides it hard, but only gets a mrgin more because it DOES have the bigger tank as per the specs.
It goes to show doesn't it that if Clarke Racing, Acerbis, Touratch make bigger taks for these beasts, then fuel range is a bit of an issue.
Having said that, I guess if you are riding it in the desert of Aussie, or Baja etc then nothing will be enough except maybe the 640 with 28 litre tank...
    Hmmm
