oh yea I almost forgot I also spotted a empty soft drink can that came with the bike.. haha I should have taken the photo of that too. lol workshop owner was being a mean ass tho i had to runaway from him hahahah

yea I will try everthing I can to if nothing works then it will be Fair Go time.
always liked that show, never thought I wld actually think of contact them regarding my own matters.
I hate to say it, but if the bike wasn't tied down then it wasn't fit for carriage.

This would make the seller/shipper responsible for the damage. Given that they're a private seller and the money has already been paid, you may struggle to get anything out of them.

Good luck! I hope you can get it resolved.

I forgot to add that the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn't apply to private sales.

Right now you need to establish who was responsible for packing the bike. Did the seller crate it up and the carrier just collect it, or did the carrier (PBT) collect and crate the bike. The insurance company will want this info.

You are 100% entitled to knowing who their insurance company is and if you can arrange to be on site when the assessor comes to view the bike. Make it very clear that if parts are to be replaced that you expect them to with new parts not repainted bits. To be honest it may be a right-off - I know a new SV650 tank is the better part of $2000 - I priced one a while back when considering a used bike that had a damaged tank.

I ask this as to me it has obviously been insufficiently crated - the bike should have had several tie-downs on it firmly connected to the crate to ensure it would not move in transport.

Frankly if it was collected by PBT without straps I'm surprised they accepted it.

Dam poor service from them, especially when they have now doubled the damage by moving it and dropping it on the other side.

As a side note that's a very nice looking colour.

alright.. I was told it was tied down very well but dont know who is reponsible for it. i will check on that. i will have the bike quoted first and let their insurance company know. and yes i will arrange to be on site when the assessor comes to view the bike.

they say it was properly tied up when it was shipped from CHCH to Auckland.
that was when the first damage happened. and I have told them to transport it again to the work shop for a quotation. (it was not riable) and the photo shows how it arrived at the workshop.

I would like to know howit was tied down that is a standard packing crate that most courier COs use i worked as a courier for 7 years with NZC and those crates dont have tie down ponit in side them they fold down flat for stacking. they are made so things dont fall out through holes etc etc. my guess is they used all that plastic and shit to cushin it and would have tried to stack what ever else they could around it to save on space just that th e bike was heaver and fell over crushing the other stuff will it trashed its self.
Hell you you want to see they way those guys treet those bins once they are loaded get less damage at bumper cars.

oh yea? now that you mention him..
yes I would listen to his comments on the bike too. because I have heard of his fantastic skills about bikes.
thats exactly why i took my bike to him.
remember my first thread? "bike repairer that will have [Precision AutoWerk] standard" yes?

for some reason tho, he wasnt particularly happy when I asked him to help me to stand the bike up and told me to wait. and served other people who came 10, 20,, 30 mins later,

I was just standing there doing not much other than watching people who came after me getting served.
all i said was and i quote
"what are you doing man I was here before them, I was standing out here for the past half an hour"

he said they were "booked in" customers, -and I wasn't??

"if you dont like it go find yourself a hyosung dealer" he said.
later he came up to me and said he didnt like me talking shit about what he is doing infront of his customers, as if I wasn't one of his customers. pretty nice servicemanship if you ask me.

he offered me a cup of tea later on so yea, turned out ok i guess.. and I dont know this guy, we just met today.
you are a top bloke, I am a top bloke, we are all a bunch of top blokes aren't we? He might really be a top bloke, but how I got treated there was very "bottom". and to be honest big guy like him getting offensive at my face, was pretty scary man. I wasnt there to show them how much of a man I was, just wanted to fix my freakin goddam bike.
Then he helped me getting the bike up, had a chat about a minute regarding the bike then I cleaned up some of the mess the PBT brought in and buggered off.

I still am a beginner when it comes to a bike, but if all this is how I am being introduced to be a biker, im not sure i want to go thu with it at all..

Is being a biker all about fucks and shits? and about whos thogher and bigger?? because that is pretty much all (well.. except for some ppl here helping me get thu all this! you guys rock!) I have been seeing and hearing for the past two days ever since Ive laid my eyes on my first bike. -which i havent even had a chance to sit on yet...

cherry on top of my cake, really..

and yes they do sell hyosungs there, I saw a GT250R in black as I walked in thu the front door today.

    DODO,

I know that you are upset, and quite rightly so.

People here are generally willing and happy to help, but they need the full and accurate picture.

A brand new bike from a 'private dealer' becomes a second hand bike (with small milage) from a private seller.

Im guessing if your attitude at Holshot was the same as some of your post are coming across (yes they sell Hyosongs ,,,,) then you may have rubbed the guys there up the wrong way - seriously Ive never had any issues like that ever - and they have always gone the extra mile.

I know its hard when you are so upset, but in general people here are wanting to help.

You mention that PBT were willing to fix it under their insurance - at this point that is your best option. BUT do go in there in a calm manner - emotions running high wont help.

and no - biking is not about fucks and who is tougher - biking generally has a great community.

Dont give up at the first hurdle. Im on the Shore - when your bike is up and running drop me a PM and I will take you out a few times and show you some really nice roads (all at a good learner pace).

When i sat my forklift course the instructor said on the sly that they (PBT) had a pretty bad safety record with forklifts etc, and after seeing some photo's with the company name blurred out etc i'd agree with him

obviously we both must have done/said something to rub each other the wrong way.

I really dont get it tho, I thought I could rely on them when i had a conversation over the phone? they told me to bring the bike straight to the workshop and sounded so professional. So there was no reason to be angry at them and give them a shitty attitude.

my attitude towards PBT and Holeshot is completely different.
its pretty dumb if they were the same.

one is the company who fucked it up and the other one is helping.

why on earth wld I show shitty attitude at Holeshot?

I am angry about PBT. infact, very angry.. but Im not THAT angry where I lose the ability to distinguish the company who fucked it up and company whos fixing it up, you know?

if you are guessing if my attitude at PBT was same as some of my posts, you are 100% correct. Not at Holeshot. like i said, why on earth?

I wld have said the exact same thing even if I didnt have to go thu this PBT shenanigans.
standing around for an half an hour watching other ppl who got there after you being served.. wouldn't you ask? what is happening?
It just seemed a bit odd to me.. That "extra mile" thing? I really really do hope they will do the same for me.
So all the way back to the point.. all this is why i said the owner was mean and scray to me.

im sure they are all great bunch of guys with superb skills and knowledge about bikes. Guys from the sales department has been really cool. no grief at all!

anyway. not a good start,, infact bullshit start, but only way from here is upwards and forwards, so yea.. -_- still pretty pissed about PBT tho.. fucking 5:35 in the morning and still cant sleep. when it comes to being a biker, so far everywhere i go i got punched and kicked and all I have left now is bruises and a broken heart. Yea man. I realllly DO neeed to feeel the love of the great biking community man. I need to ay -_-

yep il PM you when the bike is all good to go. and I know some pretty fantastic road if you are a keen driver

For a start i feel for ya on your trouble's but have to say if you talked to me like this and in front of customers i would tell you to piss off to.
my partner works in a store down here in hospitality and gets alot of people coming in thinking they are the only ones on this earth and think its there god given right to be arrogant and they get told to fuk off too.
Sometimes its not whot is said its how its said and you probably went to the workshop angry [rightly so] and because of this attitude conveyed an attitude you may not have ment.
Remember in some situations please and a bit of politness gets you further than demands and insults.

Basically the onus is on PBT to repair, and with hindsight the dude selling the bike should have taken photos of the bike loaded, and even better used a proper bike transport company.Doesn't help you though.

When I was selling furniture,we would get the odd damaged item,it went back if bad or noted on consignment form as damaged, that was easy as it was new and from a manufacturer, they then claimed against the transport company for damage, and have seen the odd bike transported with general freight at times, usually it was tied to side wrapped in shitloads of blankets.

Maybe the previous owner could be liable due to not taking all care to ensure the goods were transported in a manner to get to the seller undamaged.I bought a pair of sunnglasses off trademe, they came wrapped in bubble wrap, protective case(vinyl)and in my opinion very well wrapped, but one lens was cracked, good old NZpost after pissing about said sorry not packaged properly, should have been in a box,not the same $$$ value but similar end.
